Brice Turang hit 10 homers in August. He didn't have more than 2 homers in any other month in 2025.

Figuring out whether his breakout was real is one of the key questions for the 2B position coming out of 2025. I wrote about that and more for the FBT Newsletter: www.cbssports.com/fantasy/base...

Anyone who believes that the Brewers winning the World Series will suddenly cause Rob Manfred and the owners to come off of their "WE MUST HAVE A SALARY CAP" stance is an idiot rube of the highest order and I refuse to take such people seriously. bsky.app/profile/pass...

@JeffPassan tweeted
The NLCS begins tonight. And it could have a profound effect on whether baseball is played in 2027.

The thing is, in nearly every one of these “don’t judge men of the past by standards of the present” cases, there were men (and women!) of the past who were judging them at the time. It just depends on who you want to listen to.

I haven't seen a Polo dominate October like this since Meet the Parents, starring Teri Polo, opened at no. 1 at the box office on the weekend of Oct. 6, 2000

I saw a TikTok a couple of weeks ago of an Australian new baseball fan who was trying to understand some elements of the game, and the question they asked was why they play so many games. Why don't they just play each team once? Anyway, Bryce Miller had a 5.68 ERA this season.

I’ve noticed a few catchers using these oversized mitts you used to see when knuckleballers were on the mound more often. Anyone written about it?

Theres just nothing prettier than when a pitcher fools a hitter with a good splitter/changeup.

It's important to have an ethos

(Depending on how his offseason goes, this is also a decent reason to bet on a Bryce Miller bounceback in 2026. Pretty clear he was just never healthy)

(I’ve never been a huge believer in Miller, so I can’t say I’ll be pounding the table for the bounceback unless everyone is WAY out)

Miller seems like one of the most likely “he had elbow surgery!” as soon as the season ends candidates in a long time. He’s been pitching through a bone spur in his elbow basically all season. He got his velocity back after coming back from the IL, but hasn’t been the same guy.

Still think this is one of the funniest (derogatory) things a college football coach has ever done
And in a podcast released by the school itself, Dilfer sat down with Ingram, the UAB AD, and gave a recruiting pitch for the University of Louisville’s volleyball program, where his daughter plays. When Ingram gently pushed back and said volleyball recruits should also consider UAB, Dilfer weirdly doubled down, saying “they’re pulling from different buckets”—essentially, that he should be allowed to hype Louisville’s program over UAB’s because Louisville’s recruits are so much better that they’d never consider UAB. Thanks, Trent, that fixes everything.

Call me crazy, but I think “have you done this job before?” is an important prerequisite that college football programs should be more concerned about.

UAB is 2-4 this year. Dilfer went 9-21 in three seasons.
