Trump declares war on America
Let’s be clear about this:

They summoned the top military brass home from their posts, told them the Pentagon would no longer enforce rules of engagement b/c the military’s mission was to “hurt people and break things,” and then explicitly pointed them AT AMERICAN CITIES.

This is insanely illegal and incredibly fucking dangerous.
New: The Pentagon confirms to CNN it will funnel $130M from an anonymous Trump “friend” toward military pay.

Asked about the donor’s identity and any foreign or domestic entanglements, the WH referred questions to DoD. DoD then referred questions back to the WH

I don’t need to explain why it’s wildly unacceptable for the military to be illegally privately financed by the president’s wealthy allies, right?

Your regular reminder that we desperately need to overturn Citizens United and get big money out of politics.

It is among the worst Supreme Court decisions in history.

It corrupts our political system every day.

Exactly what I was thinking. And obviously the technology and potential for spying has only been ramped up since then, and especially when you look at the donor list and who’s involved in this construction project
By the way, if you think I’m overstating things, the U.S. once had to tear down the entire embassy chancery in Moscow, and rebuild it (for a cool quarter-billion or so) because the place was bugged to hell.
Listen: covert supply chain intervention concerns regarding implantation of listening devices in, say, new buildings in US military bases in Guam are considered really serious. And this is the WHITE HOUSE. Has there been vetting of vendors? Contractors and subcontractors? All labor? We don’t know!

Hey, just want to mumble that this is wildly illegal and inappropriate and would prompt impeachment proceedings if we still had a functional Congress instead of one run by a blind, deaf and mute Renfeld wannabe.

This was a powerful speech, made moreso by the presence of Debbie Almontaser next to him, who was hounded out of the city Dept of Education because of the same smear tactics from the New York Post and the rest of the Islamophobia industry.

Stop. That's what they want. They want you to give up and not bother, because you're afraid and disillusioned. CA and NJ are both heavily vote-by-mail states. Prop 50 in CA is on track to overwhelmingly pass. Don't give up.

Tax billionaires into millionaires
Most of them will suffer substantial losses, but unless they are leveraged to the hilt I doubt it impacts much other than their net worth rankings and egos.

Somebody who is worth $10B and loses 90% of it is still beyond fantastically wealthy.

Why should New Yorkers on bikes be harassed, ticketed, or given criminal summonses for traveling 16 mph, when the driver of a vehicle that weighs 80x as much doesn't even receive a ticket for traveling 35 mph?

This is a nonsensical, backward policy — not any real solution.
Today's the big day: New York City's new 15 mph speed limit for e-bikes is officially in effect, though no one — even the New York Post — knows how it'll be enforced. buff.ly/Gs2leX4

This person is one hundred percent correct and it’s scary af. We will never “media literacy” our way out of this as a society. We are about to reap the whirlwind when it comes to misinformation, disinformation, and informational warfare.

Fed lawyers emphasized at oral argument the “magnitude” and “unsustainab[ility]” of having 115 federal police redeployed. When asked directly whether all 115 officers remained in Portland, fed lawyers said only that “some” had gone home but “many” remained. The numbers show this is not the case.

Feds have repeatedly claimed 115+ federal police (25% of force) had to be deployed to Portland over the summer to quell violence. Oregon lawyers found on discovery this was not true and are asking 9th Circuit to reverse Monday decision because feds lied:
