Intently trying not to be That Linux/Open-Source Guy in other peoples mentions is hard. Know that if I slip up and become That Guy in your mentions, it was from a lifetime enduring enshittification and learning hundreds of neat little ways to avoid getting trapped by it.

no man that's That Guy in particular and that's why the bouncers of all the bars around here have been given a picture and physical description of him. be fucking for real
There's something peaceful about working repairs on the dry dock by yourself on night shift, even though the main cockpit cabin light is flickering some sort of distress signal in morse code. #over/under #union
literally covering the tattoo up would have fit that narrative i personally had of the guy. hell, it coulda been a whole-ass win for him if it got brought up.

but now? nah. it tells me something you left that shit on your chest and didn't feel bad partying with your shirt off.
it sucks because i really liked the guy, i liked the way he talks, i think he was genuinely relatable before this. i posted a whole angry bsky thread defending his right to grow into his current politics, and honestly, stand by what i said in pretty much any other case.
I'm sorta willing to believe the story of "I didn't know what it was" up until we know he *did* know what it was and didn't just get a coverup. Most tattoo artists I've known would do that kind of thing for free, or at least for cheap (if you wanted something big over it, for instance).
I've known two leftists who were former white supremacists. So they do exist. One of them, it was honestly a case of drugs and sorta accidentally falling into it. The other was a case of upbringing. I dunno if either had tats, but I guarantee you they'd have had them covered if so.
i genuinely don't think he's a nazi, but in terms of purity tests, i think 'not having tattoos that can be used as political ammo' goes a long way right now. i was willing to think maybe he'd grown from some reddit posts, the fact his tat was uncovered points otherwise
Putting a Democrat with a Nazi tattoo in the Senate normalizes Naziism in our federal politics for a long ass time.

All these recent stories about secret Nazi group chats? Anytime that happens going forward will be met with "But Platner."

It's not a purity test. Think through the consequences.
I really forgot how much I love big ol' roleplaying situations, but dang, it's hard not to feel like I'm speaking a forgotten tongue sometimes. I spose things have changed since I last stepped foot on a MUX all them years ago.
I've come around on a lot of little bands I used to hate because my little sister liked them, but good lord, the Deftones are just an absolutely terrible band. Sorry sis.

“we all had a nazi phase, right?” my brother in christ: no

You have to be willing to walk away from these guys if they let you down, just as a matter of basic self respect. It's not a fandom. You're hiring them to do a job or not.
I liked the Platner ads too but I think there's a difference between "guy who had some bad reddit posts a decade ago" and "ex-Blackwater merc who still has a Nazi tattoo." Sucks bigtime that he's the only one taking positions and talking policy I like, but them's the breaks!

Getting a Nazi tattoo isn’t any more a “military” thing than it is a “prison” thing. It’s a thing the Nazis do when they’re together. They do the same thing here when they’re not in state institutions.
it is very, very funny to me to watch younger millenials - who thought a picture of a parasol-wielding frog riding a unicycle was the height of comedy - be angry about memes.

you could not avoid dat boi for like 6 months. this 6/7 thing is what that felt like for us older people. just shut up.
"Lots of white guys have a nazi phase."

Lol, what?

All the white guys I knew who had a nazi phase only grew out of it when they entered their cop phase.
Just to revisit this thread and eat my crow: you don't have to build coalitions with dudes who have nazi tattoos. Maybe that's acceptable in the first Wolfenstein game, because they hadn't invented free nazi tattoo coverups in that timeline.
#OVER/UNDER came at the perfect time for me because I don't think I've ever had a more urgent need to ignore reality for a while. Somehow a dystopian future on a space station where there's a running tally of weekly "choke deaths" is somehow better than what we're actually living through.

There are two prominent independent bookstores on the Dream that are ostensibly mutually admiring and supportive, but one is also trying to entrap the other in a protection racket, so the Mothership spirit is still present #over/under

This circus sucks and the bread is $8.
oh so this was all just a stunt in solidarity with the No Kings protests then
on the upside, it's a perfect time to spread misinformation on NextDoor: The Website Where People Believe Everything Is Trying To Murder Them

here's a freebie: "I heard this is an antifa cyberop to make sure they can steal our amazon packages before we even know they've arrived"
the AWS outage is affecting Ring doorbells. Sky News says “some users can’t see outside their house, definitely scary”

just look outside your window 😅

Suspects narrow to include the men in striped shirts and domino masks seen exiting the gallery with large sacks marked with dollar signs slung over their shoulders.
i genuinely thought this would be a ladder like, secreted away in an alley nobody uses. maybe behind some industrial equipment at a loading dock or something. this ladder is just hilariously the opposite of what i imagined.

We pondered running ads on KTC but opted to stay squarely in the user subscription model because we don't want pervert gambling ads etc on there. But As a little trick, I made a bunch of fake ads for Palantir, Black Rock, Better Help etc that got worse and worse until this last one for Arby's lol
I gotta ask, where is this guy from?
