This one is also my avatar, Sheesha, my whippador girl:
A black whippador girl dog on a light brown dirt shoreline with calm light brown water behind her. She's facing the camera and only her two front legs are visible, and she's frolicking, with her front legs off the ground. He ears are up and a bit askew, showing white hair inside of them. Her name is Sheesha.

Today is the anniversary of the 1912 failed attempt on TR's life by Milwaukee tavern owner John Schrank. TR famously survived, while Schrank spent the rest of his life (31 years) imprisoned in the Central State Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Waupan, WI.

Truly blessed.

Hashtag so shiny. Hashtag well groomed. Hashtag only a little fishy.

Narrator:

The last time Democrats have controlled the entire field of opposition to an ascendant fascism was before the Civil Rights Act.

Republicans are never in the minority because the courts can "uncodify" anything they want.

And in 2025, voters rewarded Republicans for weaponizing SCOTUS.
deadandgoated.bsky.social
I dunno man. If you occupy the entire field of opposition to an ascendant fascism, and do not use it to effect changes to undermine the power of that fascism, at some point you gotta come to understand that you're the problem.

This is just A-> B -> C stuff here

Part of the fun of composing this bot is finding these magnificent artworks that would otherwise go completely forgotten and uncommented on. (Source.)
A complex piece by John Matteos, in an Art Deco take on the Cyberpunk Classic style. In a red frame, three silhouetted heads (each with gears, interlocking between the three heads) are superimposed over a gold CD; a globe is superimposed over all three. The top head is facing left; his gear is driving the globe. Where he peers left, he 'scans', his human eyes revealed as his grey view looks over the curvature of the CD. The middle head is facing right; where she peers, her human eyes revealed as her red view looks over a painting of a tree. The bottom head is facing left; where he looks, his yellow view superimposes a keyboard and mouse, but in his view, it is revealed to be a human hand.

Absolutely love hearing John Cleese slagging off Fawlty Towers. Especially "The Germans", one of the most famous episodes.

There was a sequel to this story.

"The Witch of the Willows" (1931) by Lord Dunsany was first published in THE TRAVEL TALES OF MR. JOSEPH JORKENS
deepcuts.blog
I want to share one of my favorite of Lord Dunsany's Jorkens stories. These were the archetypical "club tales" - stories told over a glass of whiskey, which might just be tall tales, but which you wanted to believe.

"Mrs. Jorkens" (1930), first published as "The Mermaid's Husband"

one thing that has been obvious for a while is this aspect of the authoritarian internationale: they recognize that their allies abroad are not *countries* but *political movements* within foreign countries.

time we liberals woke up and recognized this--because it's the truth.

Or maybe, just maybe, what was obvious in 2024 was correct: Netanyahu fully backed Trump and would not deal with Biden because Trump would give him a free hand to escalate the starvation, bombing, and do full ethnic cleansing. Which he then did, until Netanyahu embarrassed him by bombing Qatar.

FINDS THEM AND KILLS THEM

"Finds Them and Kills Them (Osh-Tisch) looked like a man, but wore women's clothing and had the heart of a woman.... she was brave and good."
― Pretty Shield

Her strength as a warrior is what earned her the name Osh-Tisch, which translates to “finds them and kills them."
Who is Osh-Tisch?
Osh-Tisch was a Apsáalooke Badé, a role within the Crow Nation that defied traditional gender norms, embodying both masculine and feminine qualities. Before colonization, Badé were deeply respected for their unique spiritual gifts, artistry, and contributions to community life.
As a Badé, Osh-Tisch carried responsibilities tied to culture, ceremony, and social balance. Their life shows how many of our nations embraced gender diversity long before Western colonial powers imposed rigid binaries.

Hi-Res Adventure #2: The Wizard and the Princess (C64, 1982)
A small, six-building town, of blue buildings with red roofs, stretching along a road into the horizon. The lines of the roofs don't line up with the buildings. The border is grey. On the horizons, one sees cactuses. Below in the text area, it reads "YOU ARE IN THE VILLAGE OF SERENIA. AROUND YOU IS A DESERT. COMMAND?_"

I continue to be angry that we all got blamed for causing coral bleaching by using sunscreen, based on a single paper that hasn't been repeatable, but the actual cause of coral bleaching keeps getting ignored by the general public even as the papers proving it keep stacking up.
ryanmarino.bsky.social
Warming waters cause corals to “bleach” when these organisms expel symbiotic algae that provide nutrients, oxygen & vibrant colors.

The latest global bleaching event - researchers estimate >84% of the planet's coral ecosystems have been affected since Jan 2023 - has made it clear the crisis is now.

There are 35 seasons of Beat Bobby Flay. I'm sorry, but if they haven't found someone to do it yet...maybe it's not going to happen. Food Network keeps wanting someone to destroy him but every time they try he wins. Hand Bobby the keys, you fools. He is your master and your god. He will eat you all.

I could probably beat Bobby Flay. But not at cooking. I think I could like, beat him at roulette, or Family Feud.

One thing social media has done for me was burning out my last bit of patience for those assholes. They're not just venting, they're rage monkeys who will destroy anything they get enough of a hold on. Gender doesn't matter. It's always the same boring pathology.

Turns out the people who get really pissy when they can't demonize half of humanity aren't very good people! Imagine that!
chbarts.bsky.social
Doesn't help that some feminists really just hate men and want to demonize the idea of helping men. "NotAllMen" being used to mock people was a big red flag.
