Thune is just the most juiceless legislative leader there’s maybe ever been in either party. You heard what I said.

Anyway, after digging into the details of this, after Dems getting shut down on their bill to pay the troops (itself admittedly an attempt to jam up republicans), after Trump going ahead and doing it unconstitutionally anyway, after the firings and cuts, there’s *no fucking way* Dems cave for this.

I’m just some guy and I was able to piece this together with some digging, so it would be pretty fucking helpful if our journalistic betters could get any of the details right at all.

Also, the Hill article I quoted above is wrong. It says Thune is bringing this measure up for cloture and that it passed through senate committee in July with broad bipartisan support, but that was the senate version, and Thune is bringing up the house version for cloture.

Ok, here’s the bottom line, IMO: this is the same fight as the shutdown writ large. “We need your votes and we’re going to put a house bill in front of you and not allow you any input and blame you if you don’t vote for it.” Unacceptable. If you can call your senator, worth asking them to vote no.

So Thune is trying to jam up Democrats tomorrow by holding a vote on a full Defense appropriations bill. Tentatively expect it to fall on its face hard, especially given their refusal to consider Dems’ proposal to advance a bill to pay troops, as well as Trump doing it illegally anyway. And also…

Shorter Mike Johnson:

Beating up a woman isn’t “really serious.”

Q: This has been reported for a while. Cory Mills was accused of beating a girlfriend in his DC apt. Are you concerned about these allegations?

JOHNSON: You have to ask Rep. Mills about that. He's been a faithful colleague. I don't know the details. Let's talk about things that are really serious

my man, nobody is "sure to win" against Susan Collins, she is literally one of the most talented & successful Republican politicians of the last 60+ years. anyone who says ANY Democrat is a sure thing in Maine clearly has no clue what the fuck they're talking about other than their own vibes.

California, this November 4th, the whole country is counting on you.

Prop 50 puts our elections back on a level playing field, preserves independent redistricting over the long term, and lets the people decide.

So return your ballot today. Vote yes on 50.

Trump suggests he may get even more involved in prosecuting his political foes: "What we're doing is nothing. I don't have to leave it up to them. But I choose to at this moment at least."

Hakeem Jeffries posted pictures of two Rep. Members posing with “Young Republicans” who were part of a racist text thread (as reported by Politico).

In response, Mike Davis (well-connected in Trump World & on the Hill) called Jeffries a “house slave” for George Soros - proving Jeffries’ point.

Trump's mechanism to pay the troops during the shutdown is by far the most illegal budgetary action he's taken as POTUS, potentially setting the stage to break everything.

It's also needless because Congress would easily pass a troop pay bill if Johnson were willing to gavel in.

Long thread.

And the craziest part is this was needless. Congress would've passed a military pay bill with near unanimous support! Congressional Ds have been begging Rs to bring a bill to pay the military to the floor! But Johnson refuses to gavel in because he doesn't want an Epstein vote.

Everyone’s talking about Milpay, but reminder that USDA is currently using excess 25 funds to pay for WIC and School Lunch. They say they have like maybe a month of that left.

Red States are going to lose their fucking minds if they can’t draw those soon.

Yeah, in a lot of ways, the Republican position on the shutdown is extremely weak unless they're trying to go family-annihilator in a really stupid and fragile way. Which they aren't.

White people need to talk to other white people. It is entirely up to the whites to move the needle on their end.

Let me be clear: racism and antisemitism are rampant on *both* sides of the aisle.

Is this all scary? Yeah, I'll give you that! But it's scary because this is the first time in modern history we've had a flat-out fascist government, and that fascist government is *failing* nine months in. That should give you hope for the future.

And they said as much! They thought that Schumer's tough talk was all fake and when the actual vote came he'd do a Kevin Nash and flop over from a light poke to the chest! They're shitting their pants because the Democrats are holding a rock-hard line against them!

"The only restraints now are their imaginations!" yes, and as we've established they have less creative power than a diffusion engine. They're fucking morons who are stumbling ass-first into massive Constitutional violations in their panicked flailing because they thought Schumer would take a dive.

Again- the GOP certainly don't think that it's over. The guys *doing this* don't think they seized ultimate power over the budget and don't need Dems or Congress anymore. *They* don't seem to think it's Duma Hours.
