Shohei “ah well, nevertheless” Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani has 4 extra-base hits

That’s tied for the most extra-base hits in a World Series game, joining:

1906 G5 Frank Isbell

BTW he pitches tomorrow !!!

Ohtani is seven for seven in his last seven at-bats. Five home runs and two doubles. It's *ludicrous*.

A core feature of our unprecedented Article I constitutional crisis is that the Speaker of the House is permitted to performatively lie in public with impunity from the podium every day & the assembled media in front of him offer approximately no pushback at all on the lies.
Mike Johnson: "Democrats are required to open the government. They keep saying, 'Republicans are in charge of government.' We aren't!"

🚨BIG changes happening -- ICE leadership is being purged tonight. The old guard, which prioritized targeted enforcement operations aimed at people with criminal records, is being replaced with Border Patrol and Gregory Bovino's "Midway Blitz" style.

Think things are bad now? It'll get worse.

We used to own things, but subscribe to them instead.
This model of convenience over ownership benefits corporations who own our data. What’s insidious about a subscription society is the marketing of an illusion of infinite choice, but how much convenience are you willing to trade for dependence?
America is one big subscription service
We used to own things, but now we subscribe to them instead.

there are enough people who are completely blinded by racism and sexism that they'd rather have a swiss cheese-brained dictator who would do war crimes on americans than a president who is a black woman
if Trump tries to run for an illegal third term Kamala is still only up by 2% god wtf is wrong with the American voter

49% of Americans would literally rather have an unconstitutional dictatorship rather than a normie liberal

Erie Canal, the ditch that made Chicago great, marks its 200th birthday

More than any other historical event, the opening of the Erie Canal, on Oct. 26, 1825, set Chicago on the path to becoming the city it is today.

In addition to any moral or competitive arguments,

1. This is a fake problem. There aren't any trans women in NWSL. There aren't any trans women in the immediate pipeline that I'm aware of.

2. Using Banda for the cover photo here is obviously just extremely racist.
Deeply disappointed in Liz Eddy here, who I've always liked and respected. A reminder that we have a lot of work to do when it comes to educating the public about why trans inclusion isn't just morally correct, but competitively sound share.google/Gjf9a1Sl01eL...
National Women’s Soccer League must adopt gender standards to keep growing
Recent controversies across women’s sports — from swimming to track and field — have highlighted professional soccer lacks clear eligibility policies, unlike a growing number of other competitions.…

Fun fact. Trump destruction of soybean exports (rightfully) gets lots of attention. But you know what we sell even more of to China? Education.
2024 soybean exports to China: $13B.
Higher Ed: $14B.
Yes, all those internat’l students count as *exports.* Trump is STILL actively destroying that market.
This sounds too familiar with what the Republicans in US government are bloviating about.

Keep this in mind the next time some pundit refers to “flyover country,” “coastal elitism,” and the conservative “heartland.”

Good morning.

It's been 34 days since Adelita Grijalva was elected by the people of Arizona's seventh congressional district to represent them in Congress.

Mike Johnson still refuses to swear her in.

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 84th day out of the last 96.

12 days of work in over 3 months.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

Cannot express enough appreciation for the teams *flying through a hurricane* while not being paid.
NOAA hurricane hunters flying aboard a P-3 Orion aircraft ("Kermit") are monitoring Hurricane Melissa as most aircraft steer clear. The storm poses a catastrophic threat to Jamaica and Haiti.

The crew are among the many federal workers working without pay during the US government shutdown.

my theory of mind is they think dems are the ones who use SNAP the most so pulling SNAP earlier will force them to end the shutdown
I really don’t get the play here honestly. Just throwing SNAP to the wolves for no reason at the same time the ACA premiums skyrocket?
Wish I could be financially irresponsible to fly people who talk this way to NYC, greet them at Times Square, lead them inside a downtown 1 train, and them step off right before the train departs to leave them alone for a ride. It'd accomplish nothing, but it'd make me laugh.
That's a well-oiled machine over there at Brentford. Thought their recruitment wouldn't give Andrews a fair shake at this level.
