I poured a lot of guts and angst into this. I wanted to write different SF, about being alive, afraid, and looking for something to fill the hole that lives in all of us.

And look, you get another novella with it! Find out where to buy:
wizardstowerpress.com/books-2/nove...

#bookQuote
Graphic, text reads: "The unwise decisions two sisters make will affect the entire world. Bring Me Home, a science fiction novella by E.M. Faulds. Find it in Wiz Duos book 2. Go to wizardstowerpress.com" background graphic shows a silhoutte of a female figure with a circular hole cut out showing another smaller female figure beneath. Bottom right hand corner is a thumbnail of the Wiz Duos book 2 cover. Graphic. Excerpt over graphics, text reads: '“Dave, I need you to tell Jayce that I didn’t kick him, I only touched him and then the sun hit my hand and mod sent out some kind of… I don’t know what, but it wasn’t me, I didn’t do it.”
“Yeah, right, so your body tunnel gave you superpowers? Congrats, I’m sure you’ll do well.”
“Don’t be stupid, come on, I’m trying to explain.”
“If I’m so stupid, why do you need me? Can’t you all just hang out and compare mods and leave me out of it?”
“You never got one,” I said out loud, stupidly.
“Oh, you noticed, well done.”
“I mean, why not?”
He rounded on me, nearly spitting in my face. “Because I’m not stupid! You got that elagite stuff. It’s like metal DNA and nobody knows what it does to you.”' Beneath that, the titling info reads: "Bring Me Home, by E.M. Faulds. Available now as part of Wiz Duos 2, from Wizard's Tower Press". Behind is a darkened image showing a two female figures, one larger with a circular hole in its centre, one smaller standing with head visible through hole. Bottom right is a thumbnail of the Wiz Duos book 2 cover.

I've removed the paywall permanently from this piece, which is a chapter from my novel Villager (republished today), told entirely in the form of an online village message board. If you like it, you'll probably like the book. If you don't, you won't... the-villager.ghost.io/the-village-...
The Village Message Board
Its authenticity was discredited because of his reputation, but also because he was quick with gin at the time and wearing an item of knitwear back to front.

One last thing before I drag myself back to work. "And you'll never believe what he said next!"
Two griffon style plinths or maybe capitals, winged beasts in stone, lion heads and raptor legs, displayed in the Grand Masters Palace museum in Rhodes city. Two of the monsters are facing each other like they're having a salcious gossip.

THREAD. When my parents' cat Bridget went missing, my dad, to try to ease his worry, painted her on a variety of historical adventures. These soon multiplied. Significantly.

After much nagging, he has had some postcards printed of this brilliant series:

Good heavens, I didn't know this fabulous video is on YouTube. It's lovely to see my friends and neighbours Brian and Wendy Froud when they were still so very young! I've spent the last year helping them with a new book (we're not allowed to reveal the subject yet), which will be out in autumn 2026.

I'm going to be on the radio later this month! So that's a first for me.

Come and listen to me on BBC Radio Scotland, Wednesday 29th October between 3:30 and 4pm, talking to the excellent pair of Anna Welander and Len Pennie.

Or that ancient people "didn't have a word for blue".

You think our ancestors didn't know how to communicate the concept of clear skies or seas? They had blue paint, FFS!

This how you get to "aliens built the pyramids".

We kept thinking about wine-dark sea while we were out there and wondering why. So I looked it up. Apparently it's more like "wine-eyed" or "wine-faced" but an OG Homeric scholar thought dark suited better. So one guy (or guys, or gal or gals) got poetic once and now it's "ancient Greeks... 1/3

Off for a week, hence the quiet from me. Rhodes. I like taking photos of random junk, so here you go.

None of these are edited for colour.
A man on a beach lounger by a pool by the sea. Everything is in taupe and shades of aqua or azure, including the man's swimmers. Rhodes, 2025. Beach umbrellas against an unclouded sky looking like a swarm of jellyfish floating. More beach umbrellas, these ones closed for the night. A spectacular sunset with clouds of pale blue grey and orange is behind them. Silhouetted palm trees against a vivid orange sunset.

Similar to my post about "liberation means even for that annoying guy you hate" - weird art includes art you personally don't get, don't like, wouldn't spend money on, find unsettling. Games you wouldn't play. Books you wouldn't read. Decommercialise your preconceptions of what art deserves to exist

Everyone saying "make weird art!" you better fucking mean it. There better not be an unspoken "but not too weird" tacked on at the end.
