Today we delivered to senior management in NY a petition signed by 1,300 ProPublica readers, donors and supporters, as well as fellow journalists at peer newsrooms and former ProPublicans. It’s clear that we have wide support for a fair contract NOW.

The congressman floats out the idea that someone planted this, which is definitely possible, but it also seems crazy to think someone took the risks to sneak into a Congressional office just to leave a relic in a staffer’s cubicle. We won’t hear from Capitol Police until fed funding is back on.

EXCLUSIVE: Capitol Police are investigating a swastika found in GOP Rep. Dave Taylor’s office.

“The content of that image does not reflect the values or standards of this office, my staff, or myself, and I condemn it in the strongest terms," Taylor said in a statement.

My expectation that people can be better than endorsing slavery, Hitler, and rape is what makes me an implacable pessimist in the eyes of our mainstream media. His belief that we cannot expect any better from white people is seen as the reasonable and fair proposition.

To be clear:

LA County has declared a state of emergency BECAUSE OF the federal government.

The Feds, LA County is (correctly) saying, have CAUSED the emergency.

This is a striking political moment of internal collapse. Local govts feeling compelled to protect their ppl from … their own govt.

i have to be honest, gang, i have some questions about this republican strategy of telling everyone to tune in and pay attention to what’s likely to be one of the largest days of political protest in american history directed at the republican party
atrupar.com
Johnson: "We call it the Hate America Rally that will happen Saturday. Let's see who shows up for that. I bet you you'll see Hamas supporters, I bet you'll see antifa types, I bet you'll see Marxists on full display, people who don't want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic"

The case is submitted.

My prediction is that Section 2 is overturned, 6-3 Kav majority, saying that the Section 2 still *exists* but isn't allowed to do anything.

No Kings protests are good. It's good to show again and again that this regime lacks popular support and the public isn't afraid to say it. It might be the only way out.

Yeah the culture of quoting them with fire emojis is kindof lame but people should realize that, like, all of our current First Amendment law started with a handful of well-done dissents.

If going forward we ever fulfill the actual promise of our Constitution, the dissents from this era of #SCOTUS are going to be very important and influential.

“the constitution forbids race conscious remedies” would be news to the people who wrote the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments

Griem goes there, arguing in response to Justice Jackson that there can be no race-conscious remedy absent a finding of intentional discrimination.

I think that they wouldn't mind a little stochastic violence as a treat, but what they are hopefully insuring is unlike the previous days millions of people hit the streets to protest a criminal administration, this time made the New York Times will put it above the fold.

They are of course wrong. Understanding how race works in something like, voting, doesn't mean you *must* discriminate against one group or another. But Gorsuch and Brett can't see it that way. Because when *they* "use" race, it's always to discriminate.

I don’t know how to approach “Republicans weren’t racist in the early aughts” as someone who went to Texas during the early aughts and had to debate whether or not Black students were “stealing” people’s spots in class.

Justice Kavanaugh in the Callais oral argument keeps alluding to some longstanding requirement of strict scrutiny that use of race have a time limit. This is invented.

This should be the winning point, but it won't, because Republicans.
