People are starving, communities are having tear gas thrown at them outside schools (among other places), the job market is tanking, but sure.

Governor JB Pritzker today signed Executive Order 2025-06 to establish the Illinois Accountability Commission (IAC), an independent board tasked with capturing and creating a public record of the conduct of federal law enforcement agents and recommending actions to hold the federal government accountable as they continue conducting military-style operations in Chicago, collar counties, and other areas throughout the state.

Email titled "return to office mandate" went out at work today.

Instant panic because I was hired remotely and do not want to go back into office.

Turns out it's only for those within 70 miles of an office. I am multiple states away. Phew. Crisis averted.

I for one and pretty sick of the “I voted for the Trump in my imagination” excuse.

Voters are never going to study policy statements on websites; that’s not a realistic standard. But if you can’t even get the vague *gist* of what a candidate wants to do, that’s a You problem. Skill issue.

Federal worker: My district went for Trump both in 2016 and 2024, and a lot of my friends supported him. But they didn't vote for the parks to close, health care costs to skyrocket, veterans to lose care, and for tens of thousands of federal employees to be at risk of losing their jobs.

I’m less concerned about part of the White House being torn down, and more concerned about the fact that it’s being replaced with a $250m privately funded ballroom. I don’t think people who intend to leave office in 3 years typically spend a quarter of a billon on a 4 year construction project.
