President Trump on Wednesday signed a memorandum expanding his administration’s authority to repurpose unspent federal funds to pay members of the military during the government shutdown, escalating his challenge to the authority of Congress on spending matters.
Trump Signs Memo Expanding His Authority to Spend Federal Money
The president gave Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wide authority to repurpose funds to pay members of the military without approval from Congress, which has the sole constitutional authority to decide federal spending.

Remember, brown 13-year-olds are hardened menaces to society, but 30-something Republican Hitler afficionados in positions of power are just li’l guys.

Blerg. Of course he did. Jeeeesus.

She hit me with the “hey guys, I know you from Washington Park.”

I’m all for political canvassing, but if I am holding one kids’ hand while another one is slumped on my shoulder maybe don’t try and stop me.

Even if you don’t know that both kids are sick, use your brain.

On the plus side it gave me another reason not to vote for Jim McGreevey.

Increasingly we need candidates who'd be comfortable cutting a wrestling promo

Mamdani: "I just want to speak directly to the president. I will not be a mayor like Mayor Adams who will call you to stay out of jail. I won't be a disgraced governor like Andrew Cuomo who will call you to ask how to win this election. I can do those things on my own."

Doing things like this, actively bringing communities together, is why I believe Zohran is more than big promises.

This is good work. This is good politics. This will help him win.

If @joeyesposito.bsky.social is putting out a new comic book then that is reason enough to pay attention. Joey is a big ole sweetheart and when I tell you this book is one of the most fucked up things he’s ever worked on, I mean that as a complement.

I’m thrilled to back it and you should be too.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

I love both team’s fan bases and I hope the Mariners and Jays win 3 and half games each and they both go to the World Series.

Not gonna link the troll but Bari Weiss clearly represents “thought police” more than 100,000 Bluesky leftists scolding you for writing a defense of Weiss ever will, and ignoring that reality is clearly designed to curry the favor of thought police. You’re not a free thinker, you’re the boot licker.

Three-card monte is rigged against the person playing it. Whether it's fun or not is irrelevant. It's designed to make you lose. That's why you are stupid if you play.

“Well… mummies are real, they just don’t come back to life.”

“… What?!”

I may have made a mistake.

It is the deepest of bummers to listen to John Smoltz broadcast a baseball game. He hates the game so intensely it almost makes *me* hate it!
jayjaffe.bsky.social
He sets the lowest bar because no broadcaster radiates contempt for today’s game or his audience like Smoltz
adfrts.bsky.social
I agree, with the caveat that that’s more of a testament to just how bad Smoltz is

I like how the news will be like “while the President claiming Portland was ruled by a giant skeleton named Mr Nibbles is not strictly true, it does speak to the anxiety of many Americans”
