Uh, hello, new followers! A bunch of you appeared this afternoon, I'm guessing from the neurodivergence/disability starter pack?

I post about tech, life, mental health, ADHD, autism, chronic illness, disability, video games, whatever.

I'm also unapologetically queer and trans.

I think allowing online gambling was one of the worst mistakes of the last couple decades

My bff is a high school teacher and can verify that the (freshman) children are absolutely mobile gambling in high numbers, an activity that *already* has laws defining it as an adult-only activity requiring age verification

Look I've been holding off from months asking this on Bluesky because of my pride but I need help.

My car needs brakes, my rent is past due and my step kid needs shoes.

I hate having to ask this

Lots of @scarleteen.com visitors ask us about the impact of exogenous testosterone on fertility. I rounded up the basics for anyone on T, thinking about T, and wanting information to help them communicate with health care providers about their needs and questions.

If you were born with a uterus and ovaries, here’s what you need to know about testosterone’s impact on your fertility—no matter why you’re taking it!

the Bajoran version of the Bechdel test is “do two named women talk to each other about something other than murder” and I love “Deep Space Nine” because it fails almost every episode

please clap, I am trying a new dish instead of my samefood at a local sushi place

(I also ordered my samefood in case it's too spicy or I dislike it)

Poor kid is already having driver issues. Welcome to Linux!

If anyone has advice about how to make external monitors work well with bare metal Debian running KDE Plasma with Wayland on a gaming laptop that has NVIDIA Optimus hybrid GPUs, this has been a classic Linux frustrating experience so far

It's really not a hard name to say. Even if it were, the people talking about him on shows etc should have actively practiced and be good at it. Like.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

I added two more functions, `todo` and `ensure` (that assert non-nullish, unlike `always` that asserts truthiness).

Also, I covered it with tests and detailed JSDocs.

Who would've thought that one could push such a simple code that far!

also I didn't know you could use `asserts`!
