Trump ordering the US Navy to live-fire at California during what will be the biggest pro-democracy rally in the US ever is exactly why we need massive pro-democracy rallies. And a very salient demonstration that any violence on Saturday is going to be coming from Trump, not from The People.

I live less than 40mi from this shitshow AND there's a decommissioned nuclear power plant 20mi north. It's been great shitposting with you all, if we get melted down here please go out and punch the first Nazi you find right in their dipshit Nazi faces, in my memory

All the action in Oedipus happens within a day or so, and even though it is a play it is an easy read with long descriptive monologues that feel more like narration than dialogue. Also the moral is tricky: Oedipus did not willingly any of this, the gods messed with him, and he paid a heavy price.
Following @theresthistory.bsky.social suggestion I read Oedipus Tyrannus by Sophocles last night; it is way more intense than they described. The walls close in fast & furious on Oedipus (and his family), you can feel the horror in his wife/mother than him as they come to the terrible understanding.
This where all of our Media Elite hang out to understand & interact with "real Americans". These Media Elite think we are in a weird liberal bubble, while they hang out in a weird fascist bubble.
Congress & Supreme Court & Corporate Media need to learn that The People are unhappy with them collaborating to end democracy, rule-of-law, allowing Trump to steal $billions while using govt to harm US (rather than protect US). That there is a cost to their wealth & power if they keep collaborating.
This is why Saturday's No Kings rallies are so important: Congress & Supreme Court & Corporate Media are choosing collaboration because they like Kings but also because without pressure from The People they think collaboration maximizes their wealth & power.
Trump could just keep the government "shutdown" forever, and use the power he claims to raise/lower taxes & spend to just do whatever he wants. It is obviously illegal & unconstitutional, and terrible for US, but unless Congress or Supreme Court chose to act, nothing is stopping him.
And many people are suffering & dying due to Trump's spending cuts on healthcare, there are huge costs to him undermining energy & infrastructure, but again: Everyone Loses, it is not like he is spending more on Republican constituencies, he is just causing pain for everyone.
You would naturally think that with Trump creating massive new tax on working families across US (i.e., tariffs) some group would be winning, but due to the instability & uncertainty he is brings along with them: Everyone Loses, he is creating no jobs. Only Winners: Trump insiders trading on info.
Craziest thing about Trump's policies: tariffs & spending cuts & paramilitary is that he is spending a lot of OUR money to make the lives of the vast majority of US worse, while somehow not making the lives his core supporters better (unless they are personally in on the corruption).

If Trump is willing to spend $40 billion of our tax dollars to save the right-wing rule of some Argentine, what of our resources will be willing spend to maintain his own power?!!
I could not imagine support for sending $40 billion to Argentina being above 10%.
(1) How is giving $40 billion to Argentina without congressional approval during a government shutdown legal (not that that matters anymore)? (2) How much of the $40 billion goes back to the Trump Family? (3) Trump has handed Argentina more money than the entire USAID budget.

Republicans: in order to guard the Jews in universities, we are going to eliminate free speech and defund them. You are welcome Jews!
Republican (group chat): We love Hitler! Gas Chambers were awesome!
Vance: Haha!
Me, as a Jew: I don't think pro-Hitler people are looking out for my interests.

Media & Political Elite promised US that Kirk was a free-speech warrior; Media & Political Elite lied to US. Cracking down on free-speech, while elevating right-wing speech, is exactly what Kirk would have wanted.
