My PSUSnake is a Common Gartersnake, Thamnophis sirtalis. Completely harmless.

(and probably a juvenile one: adults are 18-26 inches, and this one was maybe half that)

Did you know? One part of correctly identifying gartersnakes is the number of labial scales they have, and the shape/width of those scales. This dude has 7 labials (arrows at 2 & 5). That, along with where it is and appearance are pretty good at helping you be sure it is who you think it is. #herps
