This tweet from Big Balls says the new “Tech Force” website is their first using the “America Design System.” Here are just a few reasons why that sucks. 🧵

What’s the point of having a design system most people can’t use? By contrast, USWDS is HTML, CSS, and a little JS. It works everywhere and in every tech stack.

Accessibility. There are color contrast issues all over this site. Low vision users will struggle. One of the main reasons to use a design system is having a color palette you know will always work.

Granted, in this case the large majority of that bundle is just massive, unoptimized images. You can’t blame that on their design system, but you can blame it on them not knowing what they’re doing.

Wrote a piece for the @zeroheight.com blog on annotating design system components for accessibility: zeroheight.com/blog/how-to-... #a11y

Geri Reid shares how accessibility annotations for design systems help teams document components, create reusable specs, and build inclusive products.

Our design system Saffron won the @zeroheight.com DS Award for Innovation, for our AI tool pAIella!

Couldn’t be prouder of our amazing cross functional team and all that we’ve accomplished in the past four years.

This open source *thing* is moving forward on the side as I’m working on the core custom elements/web components tooling for my client’s design system.

That the system speaks with this level of confidence was always a design choice.

It’s an abomination.

It’s a design system defined by people who do not even understand what the purpose of them are. Specifically, for government sites.

The accessibility and low speed access alone makes this a complete non-starter if you actually cared about your users.

Clearly, they do not.

What if Flandre was a boss in Expedition 33??

You know I gotta mix Touhou with whatever my current obsession is! I did this quick doodle to get it out of my system. She probably looks a bit too similar to her Touhouvania design though...

Eu como mais novo aluno de @fidelissauro.bsky.social no curso de system design, me senti obrigado a fazer esse meme <3 Vocês concordam?

We’re also releasing Spectrum 2, our new design system, which is built on top of React Aria Components! It includes a brand new styling library, more components, and a fresh new look.

Yeah I'm not sure this is such a bad idea because it involves throwing out the entire existing system, which is fundamentally dysfunctional.
Easy to imagine this new entity being a system to make transfers from urban to rural, especially if Jane Kim gets to design the details. But she wouldn't be.

🔥 Hot take: dashed borders should never be used as a design system default.

Dashed lines tend to indicate that something is removable or not quite there.

Using them as decoration is as confusing as making text blue and underlined as a stylistic choice.

Has anyone actually seen this "design system"? They keep saying design system, but all I see are random one-off websites.

I think more important that any mechanics, or action commands, or anything else about turn-based battle design is

They need to be fast.

Like I dont care how simple or complex a battle system is. They just need to be fast.

Like, who knew human interface design was an important system element? 🙄

The Supreme Court is antidemocratic as well and would very likely strike down meaningful reform . The US constitutional system is mostly structured to be undemocratic by design and almost impossible to change .

By mastering the principles of wing design, propulsion, and control surfaces, the Wright brothers engineered a powered aircraft with a three-axis control system. This paved the way for modern aviation as we know it!

Have you ever been on a plane? ✈️

There are ways to design it too so as to reduce contact with cops, like, not a difficult system to design

Beat the system AND send a message: buy one right now. You’ll get the 2025 design and it’ll be good through December 2026

California's success is not an accident — it's by design.

- 18% of the world's R&D
- 13,000+ active patents in the UC system
- Most Fortune 500 companies
- $180B invested in infrastructure

We dominate in every single category across the board.
