The Waiting Room, a new ballet premiered last night in Sarasota. We just saw the matinee and immediately wish I could see it again. So much was said in such a short period. Here’s a painting i did with the same title in 2022.

Directed to extract every ounce of comic charm by Stuart Maunder with the assistance of hilarious choreographic moves, it’s sung with wonderfully sculptured variety — Nicholas Jones is my standout as Frederic — and raised to exciting musical heights by conductor James Pratt.

i have studio time this afternoon! and then nothing booked after this one

can i get back to choreographic pursuits? more expanding my movement vocabulary? trying out exercises from past classes and workshops? more singing, inspired by monday’s show?

Sorry, @itsallaboutde.bsky.social, not done today. 😂 I read this book, Go: A Coming of Age Novel by Kazuki Kaneshiro, in 1 day (today)! It’s about a young Korean man in Japan & his challenges with fitting in. The writing style is very cool. This review on Goodreads kind of nails it. #RootRootRead

My favorite moment was the choreographic quote of Appalachian Spring in the montage 2/3rds of the way through
The Testament of Ann Lee was an absolute delight. Cracked me open in unexpected ways, and the music was delicious. Highly, highly recommend. #filmtok

Orchestral music that is either heavy on piano or cello gets me every time. Einaudi has a particular place for me given my previous career and some of the choreographic I've done using his work too.

I had to ask Christian who that was, and thankfully, with an MFA in choreographic theory and practice, he could tell me.

You are obviously a person of discriminating tastes & vast erudition-I like the line preceding as well. "And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes"-to the "unique" choreographic efforts (to YMCA) that we have seen from time to time. In all my years playing for dance-this is indeed "different"

Yeah, that tracks. The judges favor teams with a bunch of individually creative choreographic elements and bigger concept programs this quad, which is probably at least in part being burned out on P/C’s style from the prior two quads
