#Vibecoding
i think the worst new word of 2025 i started seeing used everywhere was “vibecoding”. please stay on linkedin with language like that

would a writeup of "this is how you start vibecoding, for idiots" be a useful thing for people?
January 6, 2026 at 10:08 PM
as much as i hate vibecoding, for me it was “broligarch”
January 5, 2026 at 10:51 PM

January 5, 2026 at 10:54 PM
Are we allowed to use vibecoding as an insult tho?
January 5, 2026 at 10:53 PM
Well that's not very vibecoding of you 😔

i started vibecoding and you can too

This is why 'Vibecoding is a Zero Day' is a great meme.

It's literally a blind and untested chain. The person subletting the coding to an AI is actively taking themselves out of the reasoning process.

Meaning they will have to interrogate a stochastic parot that can't reason when something breaks.

I worked with someone not too long ago who was caught vibecoding when developing a pipeline system was literally their job, and because of canadian laws collecting tax incentives when a person didn't do the work is fraud, so they had to comb through it all/redo a bunch of it

so yes its a real thing

Was definitely upsetting to see not one but two "vibecoding" bundles being offered on Humble Bundle.

(I actually do want to someday make an app version of a bootleg music trivia party game I play with friends, maybe this vibecoding trend of which you kids speak is how I can at least get started)
January 6, 2026 at 1:16 AM
i vibecoded some slop for some non techy friends the other day bc one was curious as to what 'vibecoding' is and they were legit kinda impressed by what models are capable of now; i think this escapes a lot of people that shit like claude code is just not what ppl think of with "AI".

As someone with two pieces of paper saying I do computers good, seeing people talk about vibecoding makes me want to invent AM targeted specifically at them

Checking in: @arianekonzepte.bsky.social und ich machen den @medienfeed.bsky.social gerade prosozialer. Wir haben da noch ein paar Ideen, die wir jetzt umsetzen. #buildinpublic #freshrss #huginn #vibecoding

also muted the “vibecoding” tag on Lobsters and made the entire website way more usable.

all in all not a bad evening.
anyway idk what the rest of y’all are doing tonight but i just watched an episode of Star Trek where they all do musical numbers & it ruled

I do not trust apple to make stable products anymore, this is why I've been moving to linux, only open source projects seem to be free from enshittification

i am so tired, everything is unstable, crashes and reeks of vibecoding

[this is not a hardware issue]

AI coding is real.
The perils are real.
The hype is… loud.

My take on Vibe Coding: useful framing, obvious lessons, lots of FAAFO repetition, unresolved contradictions between rigor and YOLO agent chaos.

vibecoding a tempblock/tempmute extension for New Year's.

i do not code (this kind of code anyway)

i think a big thing about pure vibecoding rn is that like, the ai's make so many odd architectural decisions that i never would for w/e reason. and i think people who do purely vibecode are oft not considering what exactly the model will do, and wont prompt to prevent it from making poor decisions.

Pedagogy gets very interesting with an LLM when it's active participancy - needling the model when something isn't being explained in ways that elicit understanding; building/vibecoding tools to ensure accurate state-tracking when needed; taking notes, cross-referencing with project file references.
January 4, 2026 at 5:45 PM
FWIW the guy that coined "vibecoding" (Karpathy) often uses LLMs in autocomplete mode for similar reasons, but less about big repo and more that it doesn't like his advanced custom implementation

vibecoding mission critical stuff is not quite there yet. probably will be in a couple years tho
