The remaining 15,000m² of shed on each of the east and west sides are protected heritage elements and have been fully restored. The restoration and rehabilitation of the shed included rebuilding hundreds of individual concrete smoke ducts over the tracks. 2/3

Time will tell how much of this building will be like the renders, but it's looking really good! New buildings don't have to be sterile, density does not have to mean a loss of culture.

and seems like 315 Spadina is living up so far!

now there's much more I can say to gush over this development: voluntary inclusion of affordable units, architectural callbacks to the warehouses further down the street, and where it starts to setback.

but really it's as simple as the two first points: lot size and storefronts.

Now some of this is due to the city of Toronto's design guidelines, but as @ericlombardi.bsky.social pointed out to me this is only part of it!

A lot of it is up to developers, and we see this with 315 Spadina: Masonry defines unit entrances + fun ornamentation!

Maintaining small lot sizes is key & in a corridor like Spadina you want to try maintaining the previous # of units.

I'm using 315 Spadina as an example here, developing a cherished set of restos in Chinatown, it includes 7 commercial units, allowing similar stores to return!

In Apple News I have the “American Politics” topic muted (this makes a massive difference)

Here, I have words for American politicians and American states muted.

Focus more on forums like AgoraMTL and UrbanToronto.

Post from me in UrbanToronto today about updates to Toronto's massive regional rail plans: urbantoronto.ca/news/2025/12...
Metrolinx Sheds Light on GO Corridor Transformations | UrbanToronto
Metrolinx has long been criticized for its opaqueness, particularly as it relates to plans around improvements to GO transit rail services, but as part of a recent series of updates, Metrolinx has rel...

It’s been four years since Metrolinx opened its last station, Bloomington, in York Region. It was in many ways the grand crescendo to end an era at GO transit: an enormous, multilevel structure mostly...

His work was great. I have no idea what happened to him.

I also enjoyed EVCco blog/UrbanToronto posts about the ravines. About 15-17 years ago he basically walked and documented every waterway in the city. Sadly google deleted most of his work.

But a few things remain. evcco.blogspot.com

Excellent article today in UrbanToronto regarding the King Street priority corridor. After 7 years of transit priority, the street remains unchanged, with no timeline for when improvements are coming. This is low hanging fruit and the city is failing big time. urbantoronto.ca/news/2025/08...
King Street: Toronto's Transit Inferiority Corridor | UrbanToronto
Long planned upgrades to Toronto's busiest streetcar line have gone off the rails once more, with anticipated improvements to the 504 King's Transit Priority Corridor notably absent from the recently rebuilt intersection of King and Church streets, and indicative of a failure to truly prioritize the street for moving people.
