You can float cheese on hot liquid and melt it. See picture. What you can't do is heat liquid on cheese, toasted or not, because in doing so you essentially rehydrate the cheese restoring the porousness you removed by toasting it.

the subway i go to has load bearing chairs holding up a plywood covered window and the store alarm goes off sometimes but the guy who works there never misgenders me, they always have the italian herb bread, and he puts my bell peppers on before toasting so i tip 20% on my double steak foot-long.
