Does it strike anyone as weird that we have a ratings board that counts the number of times a movie says fuck or shows a boob and decides who is allowed to see it, and yet GenAI was dropped on the entire with no restrictions, no age verification, no checks, no regulation whatsoever?

Petty and ignorant. Guess we shouldn’t expect anything less from them by now.

Cannot fathom for the life of my why anyone who engages in creative activities would want to use AI. It’s the very antithesis of being creative. Takes all the fun away from creating engaging stories, characters and plots. A computer cannot possibly comprehend the complexities of being a human.
When something uses "AI" in any form it makes me immediately less confident about (and interested in, and appreciative of) anything else they've done. They've already surrendered at least some of their own intention and decision-making to a probabilistic algorithm, and so are less interesting to me.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

All the editor-in-chief seems to want to do on these colder days is snuggle up on me. With or without a heated throw on. Not complaining as he’s brilliant at snuggling the most openly affectionate cat we’ve ever had. It’s just when you’re trying to write… “Yes, you’re the most handsome boy.”

Worth also noting here that many of the male comedians featured in silent movies had their scripts written by *cough* women. That is before talkies came along and female screenwriters were ‘literally’ silenced by their male counterparts, who assumed the position that screenwriting was a bloke’s job.
Since we are once again dealing with "the only silent era comedians of note were men" I feel I need to stand up for the ladies.

Cracking thread from @baddestmamajama.bsky.social giving an insight into why your amazing and beautifully crafted script may not be getting the attention from the industry it (arguably) deserves. Office politics are a bitch, and the film/TV industry is no stranger to them.

There’s a reason when I talk and write about writing screenplays, I talk about the *craft* and not the industry. I can write a very compelling screenplay and coach others to do so. But you learn very quickly succeeding the industry has almost nothing to do with how good your script is.
Said with love but there is a tone deafness in the "just write your spec!" advice that seems to be totally ignored in the current climate.

It works if you're repped. If reps are taking new clients. If places are buying A LOT. If rooms are staffing unknowns/lower levels. If not? It's a platitude.

A must read 🧵 Whether you’ve had a crap day, you’re sick of the daily doom and gloom on the news or simply want to end today on an uplifting note, Jim’s story is for you. Enjoy! 🐈 🥰
THREAD.

3 years ago, with no warning, a brilliant orange farm cat wandered over from the draughty barn where he had been living, in rural Cornwall, and decided he wanted to live with us instead.

We decided to call him Jim.

This is the first photo I took of him, on that night: December 1st, 2022.

I haven't seen any yet but you could probably find a few contemporaries who didn't personally witness Farage being Farage at school. But there doesn't seem to be a single former pupil or teacher who find the descriptions of racism, anti-semitism & cruelty unfeasible. Shocked, I tell you...

A racist might forget, but a victim of racism never does.
"My most vivid memories of my school life is Farage repeatedly coming up to me, knowing that I was Jewish, saying 'Hitler was right' and 'gas em' and that was frequently followed by imitating the sound of escaping gas."
