today we sketched Magyarosaurus (this is probably my best flocking sketch in a while), Pycnonemosaurus, Platysomus, and Palaeoctopus

a juvenile Magyarosaurus attempts to flee the clutches of a hungry azhdarchid pterosaur in a field of ferns, however the attempt is probably futile.

Magyarosaurus is a dwarf titanosaur, a kind of long necked herbivorous dinosaur, that lived on Hateg Island, it and other dinosaurs on the island exhibited insular dwarfism, where larger animals that become isolated on islands evolve smaller sizes over time. here ive reconstructed it with osteoderms based on its relative Saltasaurus which preserves them

azhdarchid pterosaurs are small to large pterosaurs that stalked small prey on the ground not unlike modern day storks and cranes, they used their long rigid necks and long beaks to snap up anything unfortunate to be within their grasp

a Pycnonemosaurus kicks up dust for an unknown reason, most of its body other than its tail are obscured by the clouds. its bright yellow nasal comb and brow displays are visible through the chaos.

Pycnonemosaurus is a fragmentary abelisaurid only known from parts of the tail, hip, and leg. despite this, we know it was one of the largest abelisaurids known currently, and a only somewhat distantly related to the more famous Carnotaurus

a Platysomus swims through a flooded Cambrian forest floor, its surrounded by horsetails.

Platysomus is a kind of ancient fish with large scales and a vaguely triangular shaped body that lived in both freshwater and saltwater

a Palaeoctopus quickly swims past a deep sea camera, the outline of some rocks can be seen in the background. the animal is illuminated by an artificial light coming from behind the camera

Palaeoctopus is a small extinct octopus known from Lebanon that possessed mantle fins

Abelivy and Tarogue are Grass/Dragon Psuedo Legendary Pokémon that are based on the Abelisaurids, specifically Carnotaurus and Pycnonemosaurus. Taurogue evolves into its final evolution, Carnoak, at Lv.55. But that’s a post for another day.

carnotaurus belongs to the family abelisauridae, a group of theropods characterised by their proportionally tiny - and possibly vestigial - forelimbs and short, tall skulls, the latter of which has sometimes led to comparisons with bulldogs
