Lembrando que este velho e o Evil Whitney Houston protagonizaram este diálogo sui-generis durante a CPI da Covid em 2021.

And, like, probably the likely outcome. I think it's fair to say that Stancil is somewhat suis generis in finding himself the common lightning rod for this kind of petty ire.

Literary genres-- inasmuch as they "are" anything at all-- are not absolute categories. They come and go as times change.

Often, particularly good and particularly thoughtful versions of genres outlive the aesthetic context that they were created in, and then get mistakenly labelled sui generis.

Não é, não. A internação dele é completamente sui generis.

America's the base of these particular pirates, so I wasn't going to count it. But they're "hostes humanæ generis" at home too, and even their supporters are slowly beginning to see that.

um generis pra lá de sui

And there's a time dimension to the larger context, too. None of the headlines materialize out of nowhere sui generis. All things have roots, linkages to the past, both lived memories and actions of ancestors. Lessons have been taught and retaught. Shoulders stood on. Time again to stand.
I keep saying this and obviously it applies to any place where there's a headline-grabbing crisis/war/situation/etc:

What you see in the news stories about the Twin Cities, even the deep-dive articles, is a *fraction* of what's actually happening. Countless other stories untold.

We briefly tried this in the band I was in at school, the tunings, drumsticks under the guitar bridge etc - knocked it on the head because we sounded exactly like (shit) Sonic Youth. Wonder if that's what puts most bands off from trying: something so sui generis, you'll just sound like a ripoff?

Può darsi che mi sbagli, ma sono confidentemente sicuro che si possa trovare qualcosa sui generis scorrendo a ritroso il mio profilo 🙃

Prof Kreis, I realize this was significantly earlier, but does the Jews as King’s chattel and subsequent Edict of Expulsion in England have any impact on this or does Cromwell’s lifting of the Edict in 1656 make that seemingly sui generis situation irrelevant to this analysis?

“Lonergan speculated that, had he not written Insight in English, it might not have made it past the Vatican censors.

Humani generis, after all, had been promulgated only a few years earlier.

Insight’s nihil obstat and imprimatur may have come only thanks to the censors’ incomprehension.”

French colonialism in Algeria was really sui generis in being both a European settler colony *and* an example of imperialism a la the British Raj

Perspectives of an 80-year-old man:
🔷 Eisenhower was a good prez.
🔷 Nixon was a nasty politician but he launched the EPA and the War on Cancer, and started talks with Communist China.
🔷 JFK was okay.
🔷 Obama and Biden were generally good.
🔷 Trump is not merely the worst; he is sui generis awful.
Who do people even think the good presidents were then? Just FDR? Kennedy because he died?

Undoubtedly most work would still be bad but I would rather have bad work in the form of “sui generis eccentric” than “a reply to the objection to the reconstruction of the first argument in so and so’s reading of Kant” or whatever

Lord Ashcroft is however sui generis amongst pollsters as he can throw far more money at sampling than a commercial org.

Also not much in it between the two Runcorn polls when it came to predicting actual result - Ashcroft over est'd Ref vote slightly and FON slightly under-estimated it.

Dici che una classe sui generis o che forse questa ultima generazione potrebbe essere migliore delle precedenti?

Our situation is sui generis. The forefathers never thought that we would elect a corrupt ignoramus who was intent on destroying the rule of law for himself and his administration (esp after Nixon) nor did they consider every scenario that would dictate state vs federal precedence.
