I do think this will backfire beautifully on DOJ n friends. It will be beautiful to watch.
Popok: Letitia James appeared in court today in Virginia, and she's already filed multiple motions against the DOJ, Trump, and Lindsey Halligan.
The first motion is a motion to dismiss because Lindsey Halligan has been improperly, illegally appointed to be the U.S. attorney.

Important thread. FAFO could backfire because so many Americans already believe the end of the world is coming.
There's a school of thought which suggests that the only way to disable the fascist movement is to stop shielding MAGA voters from the consequences of their actions.
Well, now that the GOP administration is disabling disease surveillance, response, and even basic research, there's no shield. 1/ 🧵

We appear to be seeing an uptick of devastating flu-associated Acute Necrotizing Encephalitis in children this season. We've had reports here in No. Cal. Others out of Boston. We're piecemealing things together because there's no active surveillance for ANE, and CDC can't communicate with partners.

#3 is the key here but given #2 I think this will backfire?
Few will actually see any money here and everyone will realize it’s a shitty way to run things and resent the administration even more than they normally would’ve just for playing games with them

1. that's not how this works
2. this is, like, six hours of pay
3. this is clearly Trump trying to message to the military that they are his personal army and reliant on his largesse
4. they're probably lying about this donation even existing
5. that's really not how any of this works!

New: The Pentagon confirms to CNN it will funnel $130M from an anonymous Trump “friend” toward military pay.

Irish Times now: “FG tactics backfire.” #Áras25
Aoife Moore: Fine Gael texts out attack lines to journalists. They’re often forwarded on to me by colleagues in journalism and minutes later the very queries Fine Gael direct them to ask appear in the Connolly press inbox. If you didn’t laugh, you’d cry.

Why trump’s War on the Drug Cartels is Bound to Backfire
He’s murdering people, pissing off one of our most important allies and he doesn’t give a damn about addicts in the U.S. If he did he wouldn’t be cutting funding to U.S. drug treatment programs.

Newly codified constitutions are weak things. The norms build up over decades (or centuries). Ripping up the UK’s uncodified constitution to ‘write’ one intended to limit Reform would risk an absolutely spectacular backfire.
There is a case for a written constitution I suppose, though it's beyond me who would be trusted to write it and how you get broad consent for it. Though rewriting the rules because you don't like who the public might vote for isn't a great look. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
We must act now: without a written constitution, Reform UK will have carte blanche to toxify our nation | Goerge Monbiot
It means breaking with hundreds of years of tradition, but it can’t wait. As hard-right figures spread division and laud autocrats, a fail-safe is vital, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot
