Sir Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia begins its run at London’s Old Vic this week.

Bath's @kityates.bsky.social has been working as the maths/science consultant for the play, running sessions with the cast, directors, producers and stage designers to help make the science and maths as authentic as possible.

Solatorobo REALLY hit that sweet spot for me aesthetically. Sky ships, adventurous feel with quirky cast aboard, not unlike Mega Man Legends and Skies of Arcadia, both of which I adore and recommend.

Jimbo and the Jet-Set is a 25 episode animated kids series broadcast on BBC 1 from 6 January 1986 to 6 February 1987. Jimbo is an anthropomorphic aeroplane who was originally intended to be a Jumbo Jet. However, as his designer had never known the difference between inches and centimetres, Jimbo was designed with a diminutive size. The voice cast was Peter Hawkins and Susan Sheridan. A Maddocks Cartoon production. Spirit Bay is a drama from Canada that was first broadcast in the UK on ITV from 6 January 1986. Life on an aboriginal reserve as seen through the eyes of young teens. The cast includes Tre Smith, Liza Haldane, Ron Cook, Cynthia Debassige, Graham Greene, Eugene Thompson, Harold Lawrence Buddy Salt, Monique Mojica, Peter Krantz, Gladys Taylor, Cheri Maracle, Tom Jackson, Sarah Williams and Colleen Loucks. A Spirit Bay production. The Telebugs is an animated kids series which was broadcast on Children's ITV from 6 January 1986 to 15 December 1987. 3 series totalling 86 animations were made. The Telebugs are CHIP (Coordinated Hexadecimal Information Processor), SAMANTHA (Solar Activated Micro Automated Non-inTerference Hearing Apparatus) and BUG (Binary Unmanned Gamma-camera) – who were accompanied by a flying video pack called MIC (Mobile Independent Camera). They were invented by Professor Brainstrain (who is also known as Pwofessor Bwainstwain, owing to his unfortunate speech impediment) to stop enemies such as Baron Bullybyte, Magna, Angel Brain, ZUDO (Zero-failure Universal Data Optimizer) Bug and Arcadia, whilst working as reporters for a TV executive named Mr McStarch. Voice cast are Ron Moody and Suzy Westerby. A Telemagination and Telebug Enterprises production for Television South. The Story of Pollyanna, Girl of Love is a 51 part animation series from Japan based on the Pollyanna novels by Eleanor H Porter. It was broadcast on cable channel TCC from 6 January 1986. The story follows Pollyanna, a young orphan girl whose parents died when she was younger. The series begins when Pollyanna is sent to the town of Beldingsville to live with her Aunt Polly Harrington, one of her few remaining relatives. A co-production of Nippon Animation and Fuji Television.

The beat em up Jitsu Squad announced a crossover DLC with the Pizza Cats with the JP voice cast. It’s unfortunately probably gonna be trapped on exA-Arcadia but I assumed it was something the devs themselves wanted rather than the foreshadowing of a SPC comeback. Wonder if there’s any dev overlap.

Some recent reads I've enjoyed: In Memoriam by Alice Winn, The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff, (I also liked her Arcadia), Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders (though I listened to that one with a full cast), Instructions for a Heatwave by Maggie O'Farrell.

If you haven’t played American Arcadia, I’d recommend it no matter what. It’s fairly short, has a fantastic cast, and is just the perfect version of “The Truman Show” in a game format

Thoroughly enjoyed revisiting the Stoppard play Arcadia via the BBC Radio Dramatisation.
Cast includes Bill Nighy & Felicity Kendall. It’s an absolute treat to have this recorded. Thanks BBC.

It’s been 24 hours and I’m still thinking about @ZuzannaWanda in @TheatreBEDLAM’s Arcadia. My first time seeing the show performed since the original Broadway production in 1995. The whole cast was great but her portrayal of Hannah was a standout....

So, I finished Arcadia by Lauren Groff. Beautifully written #litfic, as always, but not my favourite of hers. Huge cast of characters and quite a slow burn. But she is frighteningly prescient. There’s a pandemic storyline—lockdowns & mass deaths, published in 2012!

Oh, I hope you love it! I've seen two productions of Arcadia and the first was one of the best things I've ever seen in my life and the second was poorly cast. But it's still a wonderfully written play.

QT wanted Joan of Arcadia star Amber Tamblyn in a minor role. She suggested that her father (Russ, who had starred in Son of a Gunfighter) be cast too. Tarantino said “Done” and the Tamblyns are credited as Son of a Gunfighter and Daughter of a Son of a Gunfighter.
