This is the male Japanese scorpionfly (Panorpa japonica). About a week ago, I posted the female scorpionfly that did not have the pronounced scorpion tail. In males, the scorpionness is very clear. Mimakihara Plateau, Nagano #Invertebrate #Insect

シリアゲムシの仲間を観察することができました。求婚の際にオスがメスに贈り物をするという興味深い生態を持つ昆虫のようです！

I'm also not convinced that Gligar is even based on the Scorpionfly. Its type is とびさそり "Flying Scorpion", but the Scorpionfly is known as シリアゲムシ in Japanese.
