Hello. There seems to be another surge of new followers recently so let me re-introduce myself. I am a nature lover living in beautiful Nagano, Japan. Bilingual in English & Japanese. I take photos of lichens, bugs, and plants, and post them on bluesky.

So I'm editing the Edinburgh Edition of Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World. Relatedly, if you're in the UK and you or your library possess the deluxe large paper British edition (1912 or 1914 versions), please let me know. It's the version with Iguanodon footprints on the cover.

I didn’t manage my time well today; this took longer than I intended, and I wanted to garden.

Visual asmr?
A marker and paint pen drawing of a repeating pattern of leaves, tip angled right, outlined in gold. The veins and edges of the leaves are bright red, the leaf between veins is red and green in alternating lines. This looks simple, but was surprisingly time-consuming! They make me think of monstera leaves, though they are not any specific leaf.

1年前に次男が杉の朽ち木でアカモジホコリを見つけました。杉の木で見つかるのは珍しく飼育していましたが突如消滅してしまいました。今年も狙ってましたが同じ場所で菌核を発見！持ち帰り水を与えると動き出しました。1年前のリベンジです。どうなるか楽しみです

Pale green lichen covers the bark of a tree. It has the texture of a dust bunny; bubbles and bumps and smears. This lichen is composed of tiny balls of algae wrapped in fungal hyphae (hair-thin threads). A few leafy structures at upper right are another lichen, Cladonia sp., as is the erect stalk at lower right, a fruiting body of that same Cladonia.

Colony of Parmetroma lichen on stone. Characterized by round powderball on the edge of the lobes. Cluster of apothecia can be seen on the lower part.

IMPORTANT: When transporting a giant puffball mushroom you have recently foraged, it is absolutely crucial that you ensure the mushroom is firmly strapped into the passenger seat of your car to guard against sharp braking and potential whiplash
A really massive puffball mushroom I foraged in Cornwall, and which is glad to be living after the year 1983, when it became mandatory in the UK for all front seat passengers to wear a seat belt.
