Based on my vast experience with the state of Maine, including three separate week-long visits to cool off during the summer, I think Mainers should consider all of the Democratic candidates during the primary election and decide which one they like best.

Gov. Janet Mills of Maine to Run for Senate, Aiming at Senator Susan Collins

A two-term Democratic governor, Ms. Mills described herself as battle tested in an interview. However, she faces a Democratic primary before she can challenge the Republican incumbent.

While Susan Collins bows down to Trump, Maine Gov. Janet Mills is fighting back and winning. She's always fought for a better future for the people of Maine, and now, she'll take that fight to the U.S. Senate. That's why we're thrilled to endorse Gov. Mills for election to the U.S. Senate today.

I’ve received four fundraising texts in a few hours for this campaign. So annoying, though hard to know how many are really from the campaign.

It might be refreshing for American politics to have a senator who commits to serving only a single term. Sets up a potential nationally visible model of trustee representation.

This would bother me less if leadership had shown that they had any idea what they'd doing re: candidate recruitment

(Yes I'm still upset about the NJ-Gov primary, why do you ask)

🚨 The DSCC — led by Kirsten Gillibrand, Mark Kelly, Adam Schiff, and Lisa Blunt Rochester — has formed a joint fundraising committee with Janet Mills.

Mills, running against Graham Platner in the Maine Democratic Senate primary, would become the oldest freshman (79) ever elected, to a 6-year term.

Aubrey - maybe. I’m not an expert on Maine politics. The point I tried to make is different - why is the party working hard to recruit a 77 yo when they have already younger , charismatic candidates ?

Competitive primaries are good for parties. The strengths & weaknesses of Mills, Platner, and others will become clear through competition. It's ridiculous to claim, as Bernie Sanders has, that this will eat up resources. Democrats should have plenty of money & shouldn't be the anti-democracy party.

Maine Democrats are facing a choice for who will take on Susan Collins and that’s exactly how it should be. A competitive primary isn’t a distraction. It’s a crucible that tests candidates and shows who’s strongest. #mepolitics

A Maine Democratic Senate Primary Worth Having
A Mills vs. Platner primary will be a proving ground and give voters a real say in their effort to beat Susan Collins.

Not that anybody comes to me for Maine politics, but the fact that the Democrats successfully convinced a 77yo Governor to primary the 41yo progressive, is today's example of why the Democrats fucking stay failing.

Susan Collins is 72 and if Schumer gets his way, she'll be the YOUNGER choice!

Right now, Janet Mills is at Biden 2020 primary levels of texts and emails. This isn’t sustainable & could piss off voters.

We’ll know what voters want to see by the voters’ votes, not by what influencers like Clymer think they want to see. Maybe they’ll want Mills. Maybe they’ll want Platner. Maybe they’ll want someone else. It’s called democracy.

I have great respect for Gov. Janet Mills, but she is being advised very poorly on the contours of this political moment when it comes to what Democratic voters want to see.

I’ll be supporting Graham Platner in the primary.
