I don't really give a bollix for the Royal family, but throughout this, Harry must have been thanking his lucky stars on a daily basis.

I was just about to end a work email with "Thank you for your attention in this matter!" but realised that, despite it being a council, a surprisingly large nber of people have zero interest in politics, global or local.

I'm in Manchester/Bolton for less than 24 hours and I can hear the twang in my voice. I only lived there for 3 years 30 years ago. I absolutely fell in love with the place and assumed I'd stay here. There.

Netanyahu "asks" the Israeli president Herzog to cancel his trial.
This is not a pardon request, in any meaningful sense. Netanyahu has not accepted any wrongdoing, and is not planning to step down.
There's a good chance Herzog accepts the request. Netanyahu made him president for this role.

Perfect Tom Stoppard story from DTel obituary:

His response to a letter from Harold Pinter canvassing support for a proposal to have the Comedy Theatre in London rechristened the Pinter Theatre, “Have you thought, instead, of changing your name to Harold Comedy?”

OpenAI Loses Key Discovery Battle as It Cedes Ground to Authors in AI Lawsuits
The issue has been a major battleground in discovery. OpenAI could be on the hook for hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars if it was aware it was infringing on copyrighted material.

The horror is far too real.

This is surreal indeed.

Not only Kiefer Sutherland but Rebel Wilson.

It just makes no sense, unless they have bad tax bills.

I just have to look at a soppy bit of Scrooge, starring Alistair Sim ("Can you forgive a foolish old man with no eyes to see with and no ears to hear with all these years?") and water starts leaking out of my eyes.

Perhaps I can persuade the kids to watch it with me this year. And Gremlins, obvs.

Well, watched the last episode of the TV version of the book version of Cromwell.

Needless to say, given the extreme gobbets of wretched sadness the direction and script were keen to procure from the audience, I was glad I had some tissues handy. I nearly didn't watch it. They ended it well.

This is excellent. Ghibli films feel timeless already.
After "Nausicaa", "Princess Mononoke" is also getting a Kabuki stage play (summer 2026).

I find this incredible. I can't quite believe this has happened.

A moment ago, whilst writing it down with my thumbs, I suddenly saw the Star Wars Wookie's name for what it is:

Chew bacca

When I was 7 and saw the film at Leicester Square, I was a bit young to realise, but all of the time since?!
