Ok, ok. The shock has settled down. PayGap.ie is now an award winning website, taking home the Social Impact award from the Analytics Institute. I'm thrilled and humbled, we had an amazing night at the gala, and you could have knocked me over with a feather when they said I'd won it.
Lads. LADS. What is happening?!!
I simply cannot stop thinking about the buttermilk pancakes I had last weekend at the Lodge at Ashford Castle. I'm not *really* willing to drive all the way back there for them, but I honestly would. I fear I will never eat pancakes as nice again.

I mean, it's not the same as equal pay, but it is a representation of earnings potential over a career, and opportunities and promotions that are not given to, or not accessible to, women, so just saying that it's "not the same as equal pay" doesn't really excuse it now, does it?

Men working for Dublin City Council are earning around 5% more on average than women.

In presenting the data, Dublin City Council remarked that the Gender Pay Gap 'is not the same as equal pay'.

Today in "niche purchases for this gender pay gap project that costs me, a woman, so much actual money", I have caved and bought a separate numpad for the data entry. I simply cannot with the number row on a regular keyboard any more. Yes, it is a miracle I've made it this far without one.

Friends, I have an incredible update. I met a friend from Jersey the other day who was visiting and she almost got fined on the Luas with no ticket because *drumroll please* she thought it was free!

I had to explain to her why I was absolutely dying when she told me this.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

A talk in two pictures.

1) Hahahaha I am actually crazy doing this pay gap work.

2) For real though do y'all see this data? What are we going to do about it‽

I have just realised, half way to ballet, that I am not wearing my Garmin. So many wasted steps about to happen tonight, that will only bring me joy and contentment, but will not feed the step machine. Bah!

I'm speaking at the Business Post Public Sector Women in Leadership conference tomorrow about all things pay gap! I thought I'd be off in a small side room or something but no, it's all one stage and I'm on it. Excited? Yes. Bricking it? Also yes.

LETS GO!

I quite literally will never understand this take. I know that we always need *some* rental property available but the vast majority of people in Ireland want to own and we can't because of *drumroll please* landlords buying multiple properties to rent. Them leaving the market is what we want.

Friends I'm not saying that I'm cursed but our delivery driver drove kilometres in the wrong direction, so our food arrived stone cold, so I had to microwave it, but then because I had to microwave it, I dropped it on the floor while taking it out of the microwave.

Babe the arts classes that you constantly devalue *are* the critical thinking classes. What do you think things like history and English class are for‽

Every part of this story is horrifying. It starts off awfully and somehow keeps getting worse. This poor woman, Jesus christ.

It is 2025 and this is brand new.

Just in case you're wondering why women are still big mad about everything all the time. It is 2025 and we are just now thinking "should we check if cars are safe for women"

Do you know what's funny? Even the different government departments couldn't align on a template for their gender pay gap reports. Even within the literal government, it's a total crapshoot as to where the figures will be!
