I should really write about this in more length but I have been increasingly bummed out by people's reactions to robotaxis, like "well, at least they're safer than human drivers". Even if that were true (it's, at best, complicated) it's such an impoverished view of what is possible. (cont'd) /
incidentally, this is precisely what everybody said would happen with robotaxis, huge numbers of empty vehicles clogging up streets.

I think entirely too much about how California’s climate plan explicitly says that converting to EVs is not nearly enough to meet our greenhouse gas reduction targets so we need to reduce VMT 25% by 2030, and then we do basically nothing to try to achieve that goal

Just got back from protesting ConnectedSF's gala. This org's leader Marie Hurabiell tweeted that trans women aren't women and undocumented people are violent criminals. And Mayor Lurie was a featured guest helping her fundraise! Clearly, Lurie is not good at vetting people. 🧵

Biking around SF daily, I just don't see the ambition from SFMTA or City Hall on our bike lane network. So few new projects, so few new protected bike lanes. The contrast to Paris, which is rolling out massive new protected lanes constantly, is so brutal.

My crazy idea for incorporating public feedback into city planning: You let residents vote for representatives in city government, and those people are empowered to implement the policies they promised while campaigning.
At Land Use (again) and it's literally all the same people it always is (myself included)...like who are we fooling that the same 75 people showing up every time is "the will of the people"? What a sham public process is sometimes, sadly

The Berkeley crash was on the one-way part of Telegraph that was previously proposed for pedestrianization as part of the Southside projects, but removed from that initiative. The separately planned protected bikeway will end just south of there.
