It’s funny how people see the the most drastic change to our planning code as the upzoning we are currently discussing when in reality was the *original* 1978 downzoning
A screen shot from PAR with the laziest attempt to show towers (literally just black outlines of rectangles with no bearing on anything) with the following text:

PAR for the Richmonton
for the Richmond
PETITION TO OPPOSE
UPZONING
We oppose Mayor Daniel Lurie's "Family
Zoning" Plan, the most drastic changes ever made to San Francisco's Planning Code and to the Richmond District.

MAJOR NEWS: @GavinNewsom signed SB 79, my bill allowing more housing near public transit — rail, subway, rapid bus.

It’s a huge step for housing in California. It’ll create more homes, strengthen our transit systems & reduce traffic & carbon emissions.

Thank you, Governor!

Even if SF ended up with the Builder’s Remedy, how many parcels near the ocean could you actually build a tower on? I can only think of a handful of examples (a few on Sloat, the Safeway), but the vast majority are still just standard small SF lots. The Builder’s Remedy doesn’t make lots bigger

It’s natural to have fears. It’s disappointing that our journalism which should exist to help dispel fact from fiction plays into that

This is an irresponsible graphic. Tell me where in the Family Zoning Plan the heights are like that on Ocean Beach. You can’t because it’s pure imagination. The vast majority of the parcels remain 40 feet. Most people won’t get past the scary headline/picture www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/r...

Many nations that allow midrise single-stair apartment buildings have a far better fire safety record than the U.S. The codes promulgated by the #NFPA haven't delivered.

The #NFPA should try to learn from nations that achieve better fire safety, instead of attacking those nations' code officials.
This chart compares fire fatality rates in nations around the world. Purple dots (provided by @holz-bau.bsky.social) indicate nations that allow single-stair apartment buildings up to at least 4 stories.

Dropped my ballot off at City Hall yesterday, already got the message it’s been received and counted. Don’t forget to turn in those ballots and vote yes on 50. It’s literally the only question, let’s get this done

Another evening of “this is why your city has a housing shortage”
Another room full of (mostly) older attendees for a public meeting about the Family Zoning Plan
