Not really here because I'm over corporate walled gardens. Mostly over in the fediverse at https://social.sanfranciscan.org/@chema or https://ctrvx.net/chema. Latter profile is bridged at @chema.ctrvx.net. #BaySky

Just saw another video, fire spreads quickly because of the cloth ceiling. A wall burns completely in secs.

Latest report is that the #COP30 Host Country Fire Chief ordered the evacuation of the entire premises, which are now under the authority of Brazil and are no longer considered a Blue Zone.

Video isn't mine, but was shared in a group chat just a few minutes ago. Seems like the fire was in the state delegation pavilion area.

There's a fire inside/near the #COP30 Blue Zone building in #Belém right now. I hope everyone is OK.

I'm working on a post about my earliest recollections of the Internet. Pre-Web, pre-Mosaic, pre-Eternal September. I'm digging back through memories of the FTP servers I used, the Usenet groups I followed, and the version of VAX/VMS running on the terminals. Some deep mental archaeology here.

Even though I don't really use #bluesky, I'm glad I created HandleD to offer users a non-corporate handle of their choice. The server (built in pure C and SQLite) has been running for months without a hitch. For now, only https://www.baysky.social/ is available, but more options are on the way […]

If Google Can Break My Pixel, They Can Break Yours

Back in January, Google pushed an update that broke my working Pixel phone. Support failed. I was forced to get a new phone, but it didn't feel like an upgrade. Here's the story […]

A reflection on what Zapata’s Nahuatl manifestos can teach us today about dignity, struggle, and how we live resistance today.

Hint: it’s not ideology, it’s practice.
