In 2023, I spent a few months investigating why so many Aboriginal pedestrians were killed in road accidents in the NT. There was a lingering sense that racism played a part in this over representation, and that some drivers were dehumanising Aboriginal people. And lo: www.abc.net.au/news/2025-09...
Fatal hit-run driver condemned for bragging about running men down
The Northern Territory's Director of Public Prosecutions is considering whether to appeal a decision to allow a young fatal hit-and-run driver who bragged to his friends afterwards to avoid jail time.

The blue macaw is up to 160 individuals from an all-time low of 7, and confirmed to be breeding in the wild.
Please give me an unironic list of things that have gotten better over the last ten years because I’m spiraling.

I’ll start: you can buy an enormous TV from Costco for like $100 bucks now.

They used my papers so if you have those you should check.
Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

The EHRC is meant to protect everyone’s rights. But internal documents reveal a different story: repeated meetings with anti-trans lobbyists, legal bias, and secret coordination. We filed the FOI. Here’s what we found.

FOI Exposes EHRC Bias: Private Meetings, Legal Echoes, and Policy Capture - Trans Advocacy and Complaints Collective
Let’s be honest. The Equality and Human Rights Commission is not acting like a neutral regulator. It is not standing above the fray.

The PDB itself is probably also too idealized. For example, the fraction of cis-peptide bonds (doi.org/10.1038/1368), backbone tau-angles (doi.org/10.1107/S090...) and planarity of guanidines (doi.org/10.1107/S205...) all appear to depend on resolution

A friend included this anti-acknowledgement section on her PhD thesis. She also added the proposition: “Systematic bullying and undermining of girls and women in STEM starts early on and is the reason why they do not stay in science and related fields.”
Absurd we still need to go through this
