my favorite spread from this section of the book is the spread on Design Intents and a short explanation of what Violence means in the game (essentially a buddho-communist extension of benjamin's Divine Violence) and cuminates in a very buddhist dark fantasy image
Ultraviolence is Real violence. While normal violences are means-to-an-end, in the sense that some violences are done to install a ruling class, or to preserve the ruling class, or to preserve some laws, Ultraviolences are pure violences. It is violence that arises only when there is no other choice left. Ultraviolence is violence that does not turn the wheel of Law-Making and Law-Preserving. It is destructive, annihilative, and atoning. As it is pure, so does it make the violencer pure. As ultraviolence destroys the object, so does it destroy the subject. The colonized committing ultraviolence on the colonizer must destroy the very institution of Colonialism. Destroying the very institution of Colonialism means that with the destruction of the colonizer also means the destruction of the Colonized. The Oppressed Class committing ultraviolence on the Ruling Class must destroy the very instutition of Oppression. This means that destroying the Ruling Class means also the destruction of the Oppressed Class. It is unalloyed, pure violence outside of ideology. It is the only sovereign violence because it is not compelled by Law or restricted by Law. It is the Traumatic Rupture and annihilation of the present state of things. It is the complete and utter abolishment. The negation that creates a new Subject. It is by necessity and in its nature, unbound by Human morality. A real event where everything and everyone is changed forever. Only in annihilation can the wheel be broken.

every time i watch it again i'm amazed at just how quickly Dr. Strangelove gets going at full stride. they send out Attack Plan R within like first few minutes. keeps up a crazy pace for a movie that's almost entirely composed of guys sitting down having conversations

Yes, my laser sidearm requires expensive single-use chemical power cells, takes several minutes to cool off after each shot, has a lethal range measured in dozens of meters under most atmospheric conditions, and blinds the wielder every time it's fired, but consider: it also looks stupid as hell.

Just finished this commission of a #LancerRPG Tortuga fully stanced up with its pilot.
A stock Tortuga mech from the Lancer TTRPG posed with two guns pointed in the air, leaned back and wide-stanced. Beneath and between the Tortuga's legs is the mech's pilot in an identical pose, also with two guns.

Recently finished a #LancerRPG commission of a super-custom Drake in the form of a spider. It has two guns, plate shield legs, and a very straightforward approach to problem solving.
This is an image of a large mech from the Lancer TTRPG in the shape of a spider. It is using an IPS-N Drake frame, but is fully not humanoid, walking on six giant spider legs. The legs themselves have large plate shields attached to them. At the front of the spider, it is sporting two short arms ending in miniguns. One minigun is raised and firing, the other is lowered and smoking, both have piles of spent casings beneath them. The spider's body is hiding behind one of the plate shields on its front leg, and incoming fire is ricocheting off of the armor, splintering into a spray of hot metal. The main body of the spider is a dark grey blue, clearly worn and scratched from overuse. The legs are a desaturated red, and are even more damaged than the rest. They are pock-marked with dents, bullet holes, and scratches.

Incidentally, for 2024’s Hourly Comics Day, I started to make a comic about the history of Simone and Hourly Comics Day. But (ha ha) you know how it is with HCD sometimes — it gets away from you. Here’s as much as I made.
HOURLY COMIC DAY. A series of comics drawn in the style of Simone Veil. Hourly comic day is observed annually on February 1st. It was started in 2006 by webcomic artist Simone Veil. (Hey) she’s has come out as trans in the intervening year years, so she went by a different name in 2006. You may recognize her as the author of the webcomic pictures for sad children. Her comics are simply drawn often black and while. Characters are usually heads and bodies with stick arms. This is me trying to imitate her style (kind of a pale imitation). Her comics often concern sadness and existential dread manifesting in strange and surreal ways. In 2011, she held a kickstarter for a print compilation of pfsc. Funding greatly exceeded her expectations. In 2014x after struggling to fulfill the last of the orders and contending with a rising chorus of internet hate, she posted a video of her burning boxes of unshipped comics. Then she deleted her comic archives and vanished off th internet. But I digress. On December 21, 2005, Simone Drew a comic every hour she was awake. When th day was over, she kept going. On January 25, 2006, she picked a day and invited other people to give it a try too. And they did.

Simone challenged herself to make a small, two-panel comic for her every waking hour of January. She posted them on an old webcomics forum and in 2006 encouraged the other community members to join in for a day at the end of her month.
