Like 75% of the US Olympic curlers are from Minnesota. A lot of them curl out of two clubs in Saint Paul, one club is in Frogtown, a neighborhood that has been very heavily targeted by ICE. These curlers are good neighbors.
US Olympic Curling Team member speaks out against ICE:

"I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."

A backgrounder is someone who conducts background checks.

Notable that basically everyone is NIMBY about these, even jerks like Fetterman, who opposes the one planned for Tremont, Pennsylvania. ICE concentration camps pay no taxes while also making huge demands on local infrastructure, everything from water to sewage to power to hospitals.
ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.

If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

Thank you, as always, Jess. As we push our lawmakers THIS WEEK on the DHS funding fight, let us extend those demands to encompass both ending ICE abuse, abductions & murders and #KidsOutofCamps
If you can read these letters from kids detained at Dilley and not feel sick to your stomach then something is broken inside of you. Absolutely vile what we’re doing to children in detention.

But I guess when you’ve got a government filled with child abusers this horror makes perfect sense.
1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

Here's what DHS doesn't want you to know: Working for ICE is one of the safest jobs in America — and last year was the second-safest year for the agency on record.

And the doxxing? It hasn't actually happened even once.

The masks are justified by a lie. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ice-s-mask...
ICE's Masks Are All a Lie

All demands in the DHS funding fight must also include kids out of camps. There is no reason to confine ourselves only to ending the abuse, abductions & murders by masked militia. #KidsOutofCamps

Throughout this clip, Rep. Steil says over and over again that masking wouldn't be necessary if local governments cooperated with ICE. But that's nonsense. ICE is masking even in red states, even in places where there are 287(g) agreements, and even hiding their faces in photos taken at prisons!
REP. STEIL: Some Dems demands put at risk the safety of members of law enforcement

CNBC: You mean like taking off their masks and having a badge that shows who they are?

STEIL: Well, they're known to their supervisors

CNBC: No other law enforcement officials in the US are allowed to wear masks

This is a wild departure from past practices. All the talk of the “Worst of the Worst” is a lie. Usually between 50-75 percent of ICE deportees have criminal records. We’ve turned ICE from a crime-fighting org into a racial profiling and ethnic cleansing operation.

Gentle reminder: consuming news stories is not activism.

Consuming vids of ICE atrocities is not activism.

Watching musicians make art to joyfully resist is not activism.

Let these good things prompt you to access your agency and take action. Get angry, get motivated, get to work. We need you.

Good morning. The President of the United States was in the middle of the most serious child sex trafficking ring of the last quarter century.

He is referenced not a dozen times in the case files. Not 100 times. Not 1,000 times. He’s referenced 38,000 times.
