I wish we'd do studies on this! It might be like that aphantasia thing; where some people cannot imagine an object in their minds, some cannot put themselves in someone's shoes. (Hell, the two might even be linked).

I seriously think most problems today are due to an increased inability to experience empathy.
An epidemic of people psychologically incapable of putting themselves in someone's shoes and understanding how people feel unless it literally like-for-like is happening to them.
