OH, LOOK, ENGLAND ARE ACTUALLY TAKING THEIR TIME TO PREPARE. PERHAPS BLINDLY SLAGGING THEM OFF WASN'T THE RIGHT THING AFTER ALL. ahem.

(yes, they are still very stubborn, but let's sample the pudding to obtain proof...)

Whatever else this government do (and there's plenty of issues with this budget) ministers will always be able to point to this as an incredible important contribution to the country's future. Almost half a million kids taken out of poverty.
Scrapping the two-child limit in full is a monumental decision. Well done to all involved in the Child Poverty Strategy, and everyone who has made the case against the policy.

OBR says scrapping costs £3 billion in 2029-30 and will lift 450,000 out of poverty

I struggle to reconcile much American discourse about British food when Thanksgiving…

…*removes glasses, furrows brow, squints*…

…involves a hate crime featuring Marshmallows and sweet potato, and Pumpkin Pie/cobbler, an infinitely worse crumble. A fruit so horrible it must come from a tin.

This man will probably lose this, I think. If he does, I hope he can crowd fund to pay off what he'll probably have to pay. Hopkins has a brass neck.

Convinced that the biggest challenge of modern parenting, once you overcome the barriers of support network, expense and 'the juggle' - is the sheer amount of admin.

So much admin. WhatsApp groups for teacher gifts, endless school reminders, parenting groups. Groups about the groups.

So. Have just finished a few Booker nominated / winners.

Audition: 4/10, starts interestingly, doesn’t go much of anywhere.
Flesh: 7.5/10, good, very much has a chord sequence and is fond of it.

Am off to Australia for Christmas.

What should I read? What have you enjoyed recently?
