I work in video games. I like cats, studying Japanese, and katsu sandos. My opinions only reflect me.

English/日本語 OK
Al's favorite game since moving into the new place is staring at me from behind things like a weirdo, lol.

Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

🧵⬇️
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

In a lot of the genAI conversations I see in various places, I find myself wondering 'what does this person stand for?' and 'what do they actually believe in?', and I feel like answer I usually come away with is powerful self-interest - the desire to not have to earn, bargain, or respect balance.

The markets are staying afloat right now on the hope that AI will destroy American workers. What a bleak thing.

I met this good older gentleman today. He liked me but was disappointed that I did not give him any cheese.

Most of our stuff has been packed for the move since last Saturday, which has led me to playing my Steam deck more, which has led me to discovering Megabonk, which has led me into (delightful) madness. What an extremely fun video game.

I don't need more figures, but dang that's a cool Bargy. I love the effects on her sword.

I've cried a fair bit over the years while playing video games, but I'm not sure any game ever messed me up (complimentary) quite like Lost Odyssey. I wish more people had a chance to play it.

“Very few assignments have the product as the main outcome,” said Alfred Guy, director of Undergraduate Writing and Tutoring at Yale. “The main outcome is learning to make the product, and you can’t learn that if you don’t do the making.”

This idea right here is why I've never used genAI.

Tickled by this week's: MONDAY: "the market surged at the prospect of the shutdown ending" -> THURSDAY: "the market is slumping due to the consequences of the shutdown ending".

I'm just a casual observer, but it seems like the market is a very silly place.

The demo of our relaxing tower-building game launches in a few weeks. We’re a tiny indie duo just trying to get a bit more visibility on Steam before then. A like and repost would go a very long way 🙏
