constant advice I give to folks in this space is to consume more than just games / games media.
read books. watch/read about sports. listen to unfamiliar music. see a movie that isn't an established IP.
if your world only holds games, that's the only context you'll be able to see them in.

I'm far from the first person to say this but a fundamental and increasing issue with games media and how we talk about games with Themes is an unavoidable lack of media literacy and/or engagement with forms of art that aren't video games (or nerd media, really).
