I'm watching the official Rose Parade live stream because it's being carried on one of the free streaming channels, and while the parade audio is great, you can really hear the bands and stuff, the rest of the audio is total amateur hour.

I've been craving homemade French Onion soup, hadn't made it in a long time. Previously the big obstacle was the time it takes to shave down 6+ lbs of onions & risk of injury w/ the mandoline. Remembered that I now have a food processor with a slicer, making it a <90 min exercise including cook time

(I successfully knocked myself out of an “Oh God, has my phone rewired my brain so that I can’t read???” rut a few years ago by just setting a rule of at least half an hour a day and recommend it if you’re making New Year’s resolutions in this area.)

Last week, I came down to the unmistakable moaning of a failed bearing in my Dell tower's power supply fan. Opened PSU to see about replacing fan, not only is it all proprietary, the connector is glued to the board with enough goop to make it difficult to remove without damage/not worth the effort

I follow some folks on here whom I respect greatly other than their insistence on posting the latest fecal matter from a variety of terrible(ly), stupid, hateful people simply to point at it and yell about how awful it smells to a bunch of people who already know. The outrage farming is just tiring.

There is a type of computer "engineer"/developer who seem only to understand any technique or tool in terms of how little work it allows them to get away with doing and still pretend they are uniquely capable and skilled.
