Despite being landlocked, surfers and kayakers are flocking to Boise, Idaho.

The city’s artificial whitewater waves built into its river have transformed the local economy, and other communities are following suit.
River communities are building their own whitewater waves — and it’s transforming their economies
These “perfect waves” attract kayakers, river surfers, and plenty of visitors.

A Washington Post article suggests that, beyond a certain threshold, larger homes don't make people happier. Instead, well-being is correlated with affordable housing in walkable neighborhoods where they feel socially connected.

A good new year's resolution for the City of St. Louis: stop people from dumping along the Riverfront Trail. It's pervasive. It's shameful.

Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.

All across the USA there are forgotten spaces of American soccer. At dawn, I’m standing at one in St. Louis.

Here, at the corner of N Market & N Spring St, the young women of the Craig League played what’s often cited as the first organized women’s league match in 🇺🇸 history.

A reminder that the state built way more than it can take care to coerce as much driving as possible.
Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation admitted their crews didn’t pre-treat roads before a quick burst of snowfall blanketed the St. Louis region and led to numerous crashes and traffic gridlock Monday afternoon.
MoDOT didn’t pre-treat roads before Monday’s snow. Agency says it expected later arrival
The National Weather Service says between 2-4 inches of snow could fall in the St. Louis region Monday.

Actually, economists are agreed that pretty much the opposite of everything JD Vance says here is true. Immigrants are essential to fueling residential construction. Removing them in number will, and has, caused a slump in new construction.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."
