Last week, Dem @congressmin.bsky.social sided with Republicans to support the Trump takeover of DC. This is the wrong lesson to learn from recent Dem losses. Voters care about stances on everyday issues; performing moderation on issues they don’t care about doesn’t win elections

It’s a little silly that while all basic decorum for law enforcement in this city fell apart, my official elected work mostly involved talking to neighbors about new speedhumps. But here’s a speedhump stopping a vehicular threat without major injury. www.popville.com/2025/08/feds...

It’s fine to hold DC to a higher standard than the 50 US cities with higher crime rates. I do it all the time! I just also try to be serious about solutions. We need our judicial and prosecutorial vacancies filled.

On the Hill again, at the Hart Building talking to Senate offices asking our Democratic Senators to vote no on cloture and prevent the freezing of $1.1 billion in DC’s *local* budget. The current CR benefits no one, and would devastate the District.

Hidden costs of exurban expansion.
UPDATE: Silver Line: Expect residual delays to Downtown Largo following an earlier deer struck by a train outside Loudoun Gateway.

Beautiful day for some YIMBYs to go recruiting pro-housing ANC commissioners in 5A. There are important projects in the pipeline in this area, and 3 ANC seats have no one representing them.

I’m sorry, but I just think we should focus more on winning elections than whether our specific social media platform has been acquired by a recognizable billionaire yet.

My car randomly had a fully flat tire late at night last week, so I metroed home and dealt with it by train and bike the next morning. Bikes (and trains, and air pumps) make cars more feasible.

This week Luz Lazo published two articles in the @washingtonpost.com about traffic violence.

1️⃣ With less than 2 weeks left in 2023, there have been 47 fatalities—the most since 2007—and 6,000+ injuries this year on DC streets. Gift link: wapo.st/3tiUbFO

Y'all... I have attempted to create a DC feed, currently curated by me, here. My hope is that this can start to make it easier to get off the hellsite! I have added individual users that I know about who post about DC (or DC-area stuff) as well as the tag #DC. Hope it works...!

Is there an app that allows crossposting and aggregating feeds from multiple microblogging platforms? Maybe with the ability to mute the decomposing one except when I’m already engaged in a thread.

A voluntary evaluation isn’t enough for Jessica Hart, whose 5-year-old daughter Allie was struck and killed in 2021. Her petition on Change.org has collected more than 28,000 signatures.
New cars are supposed to be getting safer. So why are fatalities on the rise?
Government test data shows new passenger vehicles in the U.S. are extremely safe, but roadway deaths are steadily rising.
