Somehow a car wound up on the Metro tracks in the middle of I-66 just west of the Dunn Loring station. Orange Line trains are not operating between West Falls Church & Vienna. Metro says they’ll let us know when they have more information on how in the world this happened. #wmata

Worth watching this in full. The statement is more powerful than this quote alone. Here is is from USA Today, with alt text.

Hi—future here. You were right!
In the future we're gonna look back at online gambling and prediction markets in the same way we look now at cigarettes on airplanes and lead-based paint

He’s right, and his wording is also apt in that it makes clear that it is hardly the first racist thing coming out of this White House.

I really don’t have a lot of time for the United States government whining about the administrative burdens of its unconscionable, unlawful conduct.
NEW: The top Trump-appointed proseutor in MN says his office is dropping "pressing priorities" to manage crushing immigration workload.

His short-staffed office is doing constant overtime and bouncing between contempt hearings.

The bleak assessment:

The Senate votes today on a decoupling resolution that could drain DC's budget by nearly $700 million dollars, and block tax credits that could reduce child poverty by 20%.

It's time to take action. Head to DCFPI.org for information on what we can do right now.

NEWS: In a letter to congressional leaders, D.C. CFO Glen Lee says that if Congress repeals a D.C. bill decoupling the city's tax code from some of the Republican tax changes, he may have to suspend tax filing season — possibly for several months.

Congress is trying to blow up the District’s budget again—and in the process undo tax cuts that we implemented to help District families.
Last year Congress blew a $1.1 billion hole in DC's budget. Now they're trying to do it again.

Two new bills are attempting to take away nearly $700M of DC's own local tax money. They're anti-democratic, anti-family, and wrong.

Here are four ways you can help stop them: freedcproject.org/money

Bullshit charges against journalists and political enemies that are going to get tossed out of court as quickly as this administration’s other shoddy work. Bondi and her cronies are an embarrassment and should be impeached immediately when the fascists and appeasers lose power.

Logged my 1st post storm bike ride today. Notes: Cabi has done an admirable job clearing out stations & keeping bikes in service. A trip to/from downtown will require some time on sidewalk or a car lane (choose ur poison). Lanes are either in remarkably good shape (PA NW, 9th NW, MBT) or impassible.

Is it time for a #bikeDC lane status thread? I've pivoted to WMATA for trips so far this week but am itching to get back on my preferred form of transit.

1st contribution: Pennsylvania Avenue NW lanes are cleared but riders should still use caution as icy patches are plentiful on the surface.

I’m sure the CFO (who runs tax collections) will have more to say because passing these resolutions would create chaos because filing season has already begun.
🚨As if DC didn’t already have enough to deal with, today we learned the Senate and House will vote next wk on SJ Res. 102 and HJ Res. 142 to disapprove a bill to decouple provisions of DC’s tax code from the feds.

This would blow a $820 MILLION hole through the financial plan!
