I didn't think anything in the Epstein release would surprise me, but Ken Starr signing an email to Epstein with "Hugs, Ken" surprised me.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

Seriously.

I'm judging your fucking ass forever if you keep playing the NYT games after today.

The last **decade** of everyone's lives could have played out completely differently if a few people in charge at the New York Times hadn't buried the emails they've had.
every few years it's revealed that the NYT was sitting on information about some horrific thing that public knowledge of would have changed the country's course and for some reason a ton of people still give them money. you can play those games on other sites

Seems possible that this is about even more than underage women.

Perhaps money changing hands— corruptly and internationally, and intertwined with underaged women?

Man, oh man.
The Kremlin disguised a nearly $100 mn payment to Trump in the form of a brokered real estate deal... and both Jeffrey Epstein and William Pulte were involved in the deal. That's very interesting.

"This could take down Democrats, too."

I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office.

Down with the sex predators, wherever they are.

according to a wapo article (my sub hasn't lapsed yet), openai claims more than 800 million users of chatgpt. i have no way to know whether that's true but if it is, i have never been more disappointed in humanity.

when i learned to read i spent many, many, *many* hours asking my parents/teachers "what does this word mean" and getting answers that were always helpful, mostly age-appropriate, and often involved sounding out words only to be corrected on pronunciation.

one of the best things about being tiny.

the fuck we are *not*. not genai, anyway.

machine learning to, say, recognize what counts as a hat for categorizing. or to adjust that hat for different models, sure. or for automated testing maybe? idk maybe? there are valid uses. but literally none of them generate art, text, game systems, etc.

You have to understand what pieces like this from the NYT are and are not.

They are not an honest assessment of the state of politics today.

They are a negotiation tactic—an effort by a calcified, right-leaning legacy institution to steer the discourse in a direction more palatable to elites.

two of my favorite decks are relatively new. final fantasy commanders.

terra, herald of hope. starring a lot of power<4 mardu creatures and some graveyard interactions.

garnet, princess of alexandria. starring, well, sagas.

so of course this exists and i have only one.

better paid developers who have work/life balance and no incentive or directive to engage in predatory tactics.

kinder fan bases that acknowledge developer mistakes without resorting to threats of violence.

a treasure of some kind behind every waterfall.

"what's the point of standards", indeed.
“I’ve been hearing that standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She also asked openly, ‘What’s the point of standards?’” one CBS source said.

people deserve to live. unless it's medically a lost cause, people deserve to live. really not sure how much more simple you can get.

people deserve to live.
Going to repeat this every time I see the GOP "plan":

I have kidney failure. I require dialysis to live. Three times a week every single week. It costs $1000 per treatment.

So either they need to give me a MINIMUM of $156,000 a year...or I'm going to die.
I was at an event yesterday where Rand Paul spoke via video and talked about how great it was to send ACA money "directly to the people" so that they could work collectively to get better deals on health care.

The new Republican plan same as the old Republican plan: Fucking die already.
Rick Scott told me his plan would be to take all of the remaining ACA subsidies and redistribute them to HSA accounts and people can then buy whatever insurance a state certifies. Basically a repeal/replace.
He denied when I asked wouldn’t that create two-tiered system where sick pay much more…

among the schadenfreude that i wish i didn't feel is brought on by the whining of kim davis, who tried so hard to hurt queers and even this christofascist scotus wouldn't take her case.

but i do feel it. so hah. may she suffer destitution and have a minimally acceptable standard of living forever.

i once heard from the high school bullies that they were willing to come to the table and meet me on the track after school. as a teenager i had more sense than senator shaheen from the great state of shame.
DEMOCRATIC SENATOR SHAHEEN: "We've heard from a number of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle that they're willing to come to the table, they're willing to work with us once the government is open to get this done."

i think the dems could have said "this won't work, sadly. some republicans don't care if you get hurt and other republicans want to hurt you but they're all okay with this and we can't force someone into action to stop hurting you if they want you hurt."

if they had tight messaging on that? maybe?
I think this an important point. The shutdown was hurting millions of people. In a normal political world, the party in power would first, not want that, and second, care about being blamed for it, which is leverage for negotiation. Neither applies here.
It's also virtually certain that Dem's efforts to restore ACA subsidies were not going to work. They had no leverage to negotiate because the opposite side doesn't care how much or how long Americans in either group were hurting.

i don't know these stories from all of my trans friends—people usually only tell them without realizing the horror early on, and i met most of my trans friends after they'd been out a while—but i've never had anyone tell me they don't have at least one.

just like almost every cis woman you know.
A lot of well meaning cis allies will still be under the impression that your average trans girl grew up just like the boys around her. I don't think many actually understand just how frequently people picked up on how we are different and considered hurting as a victimless action

they're explicitly giving up. "It wasn't working so we quit" that's the message
