High speed rail is such a better option than our max’d out airports in the Northeast. NYC-Chicago alone (with stops in Pittsburgh and Cleveland) could help cut down on regional flights.

What if the United States had high-speed rail?
High-speed rail is a proven alternative to gridlocked highways and overcrowded airports. CNN has reimagined a faster, more connected future for US commuters.

Spending a week and a half in Paris and Madrid really drives home the point that the (American-ish) concept of a "one-seat ride" is overrated, and frequent headways at nearly all hours of the day is the true gold standard.

PATH's proposed 'significant' service increase is actually just a restoration and reshuffling of the service levels they were operating pre-pandemic.

Even playing out all of the proposed service boosts through 2027, PATH will still be operating 2.6% less service hours than they were in 2019.

If Amtrak isn’t doing weekend work in the tunnels on the regular, it’s more than time to take a sledgehammer to the awful NJ Transit weekend schedules at this point.
50 minutes between trains from Newark Airport into the city. NJ Transit is 🚮🚮🚮

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

A thought as next round of developments happening: New Brunswick is really in need of dedicated bus lanes downtown. They needed them when I was at Rutgers.

Since I made this map mid-2024 Miami has added 5 new skyscrapers, NYC has added 3, tiny Jersey City has added 4, while Chicago, the city that invented the skyscraper, has completed no new towers. We need to pump these numbers up to put those whippersnappers in their place!

To cut down on greenfield development in NJ, it’s time to repurpose malls + parking lots. (looking at Rockaway Mall, Woodbridge, Bridgewater Commons, Brunswick Square, Livingston).

Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death
