Forever Knight really is like a Michael Mann show with fangs.
I literally just re-watched Forever Knight like a month ago. It's cheesy and melodramatic by modern standards and of course it's full-on copaganda but it's also genuinely one of the best pieces of modern vampire fiction and it inspired a lot of what came after it.

I wonder how many instances of this trope and other so-called competition among women in social situations IRL are actually just friends protecting each other from creepy guys who can't or won't read the room and want a scapegoat for why they struck out.
I don't understand the jealous cock-blocking ugly fat friend grenade someone needs to dive on or extract stereotype. In any social situation I'm the D.U.F.F. by default and there's nothing I want more than for my friends to get all the dick they want whether I pull any or not.

Circumstances will never be perfect or completely safe and a time when everyone will accept your true queer self will never come. The fear will never just go away. Waiting won't change anything. The only way out is to push past the fear and accept that you will lose something.

Many baby queers assume if they wait and stay closeted for long enough then eventually they'll be able to come out and live openly without being afraid or losing anything. They get really mad and defensive whenever someone tells them otherwise.

Daredevil is the best superhero because Matt Murdock is specifically a criminal defense attorney who needs to go full vigilante on the reg because being a good lawyer isn't enough to keep the system from steamrolling his innocent clients who BTW can't ever afford to actually pay him.
Fun fact: this is explicitly why Dick Wolf created Law & Order: he violently hates defense attorneys and felt tere weren't enough shows about how defendants and their lawyers are scum

I think it's absurd to characterize anything the American military does as "defense". They're the ones who need to be defended against. They're the invaders and conquerors. And when they kill people in the name of the American people, they make those American people less safe, not more.
