As the case with many enslaved people, Frederick Douglass never knew his birthday. After escaping enslavement, he chose his own birthday: Valentine’s Day.

Today, we honor his life, which reminds us that freedom and equality demand accountability, courage and action. #BHM2026

Every single time a story like this is reported, we must assume that there are many many more that do not.
CBP didn’t give her or anyone any water; she asked 3 times accg to other reports. CBP killed a 7yr old.

I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

Partisan gerrymandering should be constitutionally barred.

SCOTUS says it isn't.

Until a constitutional amendment changes that we can't have unilateral disarmament.

Which means once Republicans kicked off mid-decade redistricting this was the only possible response

Join this event on 2/17 to deliver comments/signs/cards/letters to Wittman’s office.

Let Wittman know that he is supposed to represent the constituents in #VA01, not bend a knee to the President. Let him know what he should do to stand up for our democracy.

Hilarious when you see a conservative Democratic incumbent start cosponsoring a bunch of bills they have publicly and privately opposed because their primary challenger has them spooked

Democrats need to realize ICE isn’t just—or even primarily—a mass deportation force.

ICE is also Trump’s most loyal internal security force which will be used to attack regime opponents and try to steal the election. They should defund his authoritarian capabilities.

Here's a really easy New Year's Resolution:
If you're sick with something contagious, you will stay home if your circumstances allow.

If you can't stay home, you will mask around others until there is no possibility you are contagious.

By making these choices, you will literally save lives.

Rather than invest in care as a public good, the US has opted to dump that work downstream, where it flows from the state onto families, from men onto women, and from privileged women onto others (including immigrants) more vulnerable than them. 5/
