Rep. Jennifer McClellan
@mcclellan.house.gov
Proud Mom, Democrat, and First Black Congresswoman from Virginia. Representing VA-04 in the U.S. House of Representatives. 🔺
Five years ago, we watched in horror as a mob, urged on by the President of the United States, stormed the Capitol to try to take by force what they could not win at the ballot box.

Today on #January6th, we remember the officers and those affected in this grave attack on our democracy and nation.

Two things can be true at once: Nicolás Maduro is an illegitimate leader of Venezuela, and Americans deserve answers about Trump’s move to capture him and risk pulling us into another needless forever war.

I joined Rich Herrera on WRVA to discuss this and more.

Happy Founders’ Day to the men of Kappa Alpha Psi! Congratulations on 115 years of brotherhood, service and achievement.

Without Congressional approval, the Trump Administration’s illegal military strikes on Venezuela have thrown us into frighteningly uncharted territory.

In the process, they have put our servicemembers at risk, damaged our reputation as a global leader and threatened to drag our nation into war. 🧵

As we began the year and ushered in the second Trump Administration on the MLK holiday, I could not help but ask the question Dr. King pondered in the final year of his life: “Where do we go from here: chaos or community?”

Dear Virginia’s Fourth…
December 29, 2025 at 8:49 PM
I’m heartbroken to hear of the sudden passing of Bill Martin and extend my condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at the Valentine Museum.

Bill and I both loved sharing our Commonwealth’s history. While his legacy will live on in the stories he brought to light, he will be dearly missed.

Today, Team McClellan is taking over to wish @mcclellan.house.gov a happy birthday!

Here’s to another year of working to help people and solve problems in Virginia’s Fourth.

The United States has driven meaningful progress in reducing pediatric HIV/AIDS. But we have more work to do.

That’s why I introduced a resolution with @robinkelly.house.gov and @pocan.house.gov during HIV Awareness Month to reaffirm our commitment to ending pediatric HIV/AIDS.

There's a health crisis in America, and Republicans are to blame.

Since Republicans refuse to fix their mess, we're taking action.

House Democrats have forced a vote on our bill to extend the ACA tax credits to save health care for the American people.

A huge thank you to our Fall 2025 interns for your service to Virginia’s Fourth District!

This semester, our interns endured a government shutdown, snowy weather and a busy end to the year. We can’t wait to see where you go and what you do next!

’Tis the week before Christmas, and here on the Hill,
To keep health insurance premiums from skyrocketing — we have just the bill…

A. Lincoln James served Trinity Baptist Church of Richmond for 45 years, but his impact on the broader Richmond community and the Commonwealth is immeasurable.

I am saddened by his passing, but know God has welcomed him into Heaven with, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Republicans passed their health care bill that does not include an extension of the enhanced premium tax credits under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

I voted no. Here’s why 🧵

In just 15 days, health insurance premiums will skyrocket for more than 20 million Americans. Small business owners, farmers and self-employed workers will be forced to make impossible choices.

We still have time. Congress must act now to extend the ACA tax credits.

Yesterday, the @energycommerce.bsky.social Communication & Technology Subcommittee explored ways to improve the nation’s public safety communications system.

As localities modernize their 911 emergency systems, federal funding must ensure no community gets left behind.
December 17, 2025 at 4:57 PM
We now have the 218 signatures needed to bring a three-year extension of the ACA enhanced premium tax credits to the floor for a vote.

Let’s bring relief to the millions worried about their health insurance premiums spiking next year.

Speaker Mike Johnson must bring this to the floor immediately.

At 16, Barbara Johns led a student walk to protest the deplorable conditions at R.R. Moton High School. Her actions helped desegregate Virginia schools as part of the Brown v. Board of Education decision.

Today, the Virginia delegation unveiled her statue in the U.S. Capitol.

After months of inaction, Republicans introduced a last-minute package that fails to address the health care crisis they created.

I anchored a @cbc.house.gov Special Order Hour demanding the permanent extension of the ACA enhanced premium tax credits before they expire at the end of the year.
