On FFG, we’ve left the period where there’s no consequence from a policy perspective for failed major acquisitions programs. You are burning years you can’t get back against a red threat that is only getting closer to being ready. It was a bad program but the capabilities are needed from somewhere.

It’s 2046. The navy struggles to keep the last SLOC open to the allied Free State of Hawaii. There are still no frigates, so it’s up to the overstretched fleet Arleigh Burke Flight IX destroyers to provide convoy escort.

It really wasn’t. Both the Navy and Fincantieri ruined what was a good idea. As CRS repeatedly points out bad management and business practices from both sides destroyed a program we actually really needed. I was in the room when Del Toro promised not to screw with the designs and they did anyway.
This is the stupidest and most self-destructive USN procurement decision in at least a decade.

Constellation was a relatively healthy program and progressing on a realistic budget and schedule, mostly baseless criticism of it notwithstanding.

*pls* do not make me write a “why SOF still matters” article
You - yes, you Ds specifically - will need SOF & just because the SEALs have cultivated a far right internal culture it doesn’t warrant disbanding a critical strategic asset.

75RR is fine. Others too.

Infantry can’t do HR, hard target defeat, sensitive SI. Stop claiming it can, it’s wishcasting.

I have a brilliant idea on how to counter Russia and China. We could focus on building up our partners in Asia and the ongoing conventional fucking war in Europe instead of a pointless war in South America.

Someone make me a senior fellow. This shit's easy as hell.
Cracks me up how you could just replace Venezuela and Venezuelans with Iraq and Iraqis and it’d be indistinguishable from something written in 2002

Two things can both be silly/dumb at once:

• A former SEAL specifying that he was in D Co at Army jump school rather than A, B, or C Co like that’s a flex

• The idea of *GWOT* paratroopers being “used to being behind enemy lines”

If we do this, I’m opposed. But if we must, give it to the 42As so they never deliver on time.
I did not realize there was any interest in this at all.

I agree ICBMs aren’t exactly a great fit for the Air Force, but the arguments they should shift to the Army really aren’t all that compelling. Just doesn’t seem worth the bother.

The last cabinet secretary to become POTUS was Herbert Hoover but for some reason people still believe it’s a viable path to the presidency in the modern era. The last Secretary of State specifically to become POTUS was James Buchanan.

Not a great track record for Rubio to lean on going into 2028

It is 2005, the internet is a distributed network of servers designed so that no one outage can take down the entire network

It is 2025, the internet relies on three companies, problems with any one of which can cripple a significant proportion of the global economy
there’s a major AWS outage going on right now that’s taken down Fortnite, Alexa, Snapchat, Perplexity, Roblox, and lots more of the internet. US-EAST-1 is down and impacting a lot of services that rely on AWS www.theverge.com/news/802486/...

Except no child left behind wasn't the problem. The problem is we haven't been teaching phonics. Bush actually wanted to mandate phonics instruction as part of NCLB but the teachers unions and Democrats fought against it.

There are valid criticisms of NCLB but this isn't one.
