Happy #Letterboxd Friday What's YOUR #LastFourWatched? #filmsky

This week included weird middling stuff, including a hard-boiled slasher spoof, a off-beat noir where the police pull a con, an early Roland Emmerich Top Gun/Outlander mash-up, and a noir where the city literally becomes a character.

I think I'm going to start making up weird outlandish stories about how dark money will fund Universal resurrecting the "Dark Universe..."
It is 2025 and comic book fascists still can’t let go of their embarrassing obsession with a failed cinematic universe. I don’t think they understand how hilarious they seem to normal people as a result.

They say that there's a War on Christmas. You say no, there is no War on Christmas. But have you considered that maybe there *should* be a War on Christmas? For years Christmas has been showing up in October and cramping Halloween's style. It's about time we annex November and early December.

I quit the former Twitter two years ago this week, and I am here to tell you that my online life got a lot better for having left it. In two years I've not been tempted to go back, and I haven't felt any penalty in either career or community for not being there. It's nice to be here and not there.

I get extremely angry, because it’s a mask for a bottomless sadness, that when I get excited about a piece of music, writing or visual art now, I get a moment of hesitation, feeling I need to double check whether it’s gen AI.

They’re not just robbing artists of their labor.

The blood-drinking vines from The Ruins. They're frighteningly intelligent and horrifically cruel in their mind games.
What's your favourite monster/creature from literature? I'm thinking Tuunbaq from Dan Simmon's The Terror, the triffids from Wyndham's Day of the Triffids, the demon from M.R. James' Casting The Runes, Grendel, Pennywise, etc.
