The question most pressing for Katya's attention has been: why would someone sabotage supplies to the Amberhammer Hold? What initially seemed to be either bad luck or an accident now took on more sinister tones. Dinner on the lightning rail had been an opportunity to circulate and get to know some of the key travellers on this journey. Some were simple enough to clear from suspicion - some young goblins travelling to Cragwar for a romantic getaway, a halfling chef working for House Ghallanda who had been relaying new recipes and scouting for new franchise locations, a gnomish clerk rotating out of the House Sivis outpost, and a travelling wizard who was guilty of mansplaining but little else.

Last year, Staines library was asked to host one of the statues in a themed walk. It featured a snowman in the style of Raymond Briggs famous character, each decorated as part of the Twelve Days of Christmas. We had it posted just next to the entrance and it brought delight and extra footfall to our doors. It was fun, and so when we were asked if we were interested in a second go, we jumped at the chance.

The twisting stones of the borderland mesas conceal secrets and safe places alike. Life is hard in the wilderness, but the shade from the surrounding rocks, and hidden pools where water emerges from the depths make it a little easier. In this map, three cabins huddle in the scarce shade, with laundry strung between the walls of the pathway winding between them.

The popular image of vampires is often one of suave and seductive menace. Broadsheets like The Korranberg Chronicle have sometimes fuelled this trend with tales of moonlit chases across rooftops, and decadent soirees hosted by scarlet-eyed artists. The true nature of these hungry undead is never far from the surface however, and not every culture across Khorvaire is as focused on romantic images.
